Thats actually a difficult thing since it depends on your scenes and requirements in your scenes. Biggest part will be "trial and error" to find out appropriate settings for desired looks. You also should read the manuals definition of the different settings in a shader. Not sure what software and render engine you are using but you should get more into your tools.

No, unfortunately not. Im using Maya and Mental Ray, in some cases I used Maxwell Render. You may wanna checkout [link] or the forum on [link] ! Might find something in there....or try google !

hey man thanks for your info on duron's page.. i was checking your stuff and you have some pretty cool work.. my favs are the asteroids piece (specially the pizza hut boxes hehe), the skate and the challenger..!
just a question though, what was your process with the car? do you start with that spline cage, then do that loft things with nurbs and turn it into polys? or you just start with polygons straight away? also, do you have any recommendation like a tutorial or something so i can get started with maya? (it could be car related or not)
cheers!

Hehe..cheers mate. Glad you like my stuff. Well, the dodge is a kind of lifetime project. I started it during university and modeled it actually really polygon by polygon. A tough route but it works and you can get very good details with it if you work carefully. I wish I could do the Nurbs technique since in my opinion its the better quality. My workflow right now is a mixture between boxmodeling and poly by poly. Box or SubD Modeling for getting a shape as a reference and then poly by poly for retopo it.
I havenΒ΄t done a car for quite a long time and I recently started one again and I have to say its hard if youΒ΄re not used to it. This [link] was the tutorial I have used for modeling the dodge. I have adapted the technique 1:1 onto my car. It works...its just the knowhow. But Im pretty sure that there are some good tuts out there aswell ! Hope that helps a bit. Oh and big thanks for favs and the watch mate!

haha yea i know what you mean.. i actually started doing a car this way like you're saying some months ago but i was so frustrated that i thought there should be a easier (or faster) way to achieve a good result.. actually i'm more into organic modeling, with zbrush and stuff like that because sometimes hard surface modeling can be a pain.. but i still want to see a car that was made by me.. that would be awesome..! today i spent the morning just looking for some nice maya tuts, and it doesn't seem to be so hard to deal with, afterall..
and yea you're welcome man, your work is very nice.. will definitely keep an eye on your gallery. cheers..!

LoL...funny to look on your work and find similarities like the skateboarder drawings or some musclecars. Darn good skills btw... For sure we can stay in touch!
