there were already 3D games. like pokemon stadium!
Haha, no. I know what you mean. The normal pokemon in 3D.
What about those GameCube games? Like pokemon Colosseum or pokemon DX? there were 3D story-based pokemongames.

Talonclawfange In reply to Sorarey [2013-06-25 10:58:48 +0000 UTC]
yeah i meant a full pokemon game in 3D where you catch them and stuff like the 2D ones. I was never very interested in the stryline ones cuz either 1. they woudlnt have my fav pokemon or 2. the graphics would suck. Except pokemon snap...I did like that game a lot cuz it had charizard and mew and nice graphics even though it was short and lacked any real story. I wish they had made some sequels to that game! pokemon colosseum was entertaining for a short time, but its just not as much fun if you dont have your own customized pokemon to play it with, and since i never played the 2D games, I don't
π: 0 β©: 1
Sorarey In reply to Talonclawfange [2013-06-25 12:25:04 +0000 UTC]
I see. I guess pokemon didn't become famous for its great story. xD
I would say pokemon is like a game with no mainstory but many little ones. Like a story about team-rocket, lavender-town, the legendaries.
I played pokemon snap as well, I liked the game somehow and somehow not. If you could move freely...that would have been so much better. You're like a hunter and you need to be careful not to scare them away or even not to get attacked.
and you have much more stuff to lure pokemon and you gain much more points for a photo with some attacks on it. it's like "you make a photo of a pokemon attacking you AND you even survived" *lots of points*.
if you had the gb advanced games and a linkkable you could transfer your pokemon to colosseum which made you able to customize your team!
π: 0 β©: 1
Talonclawfange In reply to Sorarey [2013-06-25 14:26:53 +0000 UTC]
yes, but....I never played ANY of the 2D games, not on gb advanced or ds or anything. ...therefore I had no pokemon to customize my team with. And I didn't have the motivation to sit through a 2D game with lame graphics for hours and hours to catch and train pokemon to eventually use on a game like colusseum that actually has decent graphics. Guess i'm just lazy... if a game has crappy graphics, it has to have a phenominal story to keep me entertained, and pokemon just doesn't XD
but yes, I had hoped pokemon snap would get sequels that wouldlet you travel freely and do all that stuff you said, that would be awesome! By itself pokemon snap seemed like a starter game to me, yet nothing came of it and they didn't even make a verison for DS or 3DS much less a sequel bummer...

I thought you played the first gen. ^^ But you told me that you never played the other games after first gen.
I think you judge a bit too hard about the graphics of pokemon. When those games came out...compare them to other games from the same year. I think they were the best in their time.
That's like to say "omg pokemon snap has crappy graphics", sure it has compared to pokemon colosseum.
If it's about 2D vs 3D. Maybe you just don't like the old 2D graphics which were very limited! Most 2D art you see on deviantart would never work on a gameboy-system. Sometimes I like the limited 2D more than crappy 3D art. ^^
Harvestmoon is a good example. I would rather play the 2D games, than the 3D ones. Because the 3D harvestmoon games lack in story AND graphics.
I think those old pokemon games very just too boring for you. You're right, it's a long way to level up and collect all the pokemon.
I still bought all the games...but the last 3 gens I never played through them completely.
Pokemon-Snap would be great on 3D, maybe with some reallife camera-action! So depending on daylight, time and (colors) the game will generate a set of pokemon to appear which do some cool stuff and you can make photos.
I'm looking forward to the new pokemon-rumble for wii u (or 3DS), there you can play the pokemon itself. (Not like mystery dungeon, which is funny too)
So many great games, I need a 3DS! XD

Talonclawfange In reply to Sorarey [2013-06-25 21:52:43 +0000 UTC]
Nope, never played the games...I do like the first gen of pokemon, but I was made familiar with them through the card game, pokemon snap, and the anime. And I'm not saying that the first pokemon didn't have good graphics in its time, but I am saying that pokemon games in general have crappy graphics by today's standards. pokemon black and white came out on a system more than capable of supporting 3D, but pokemon not only stayed 2D, but kinda crappy 2D! Ive seen 2D games with pretty dang nice graphics, but the graphics in pokemon black and white dont come even close to impressing me. I think they've just been lazy, continuing to produce 2D games when most other games had progressed to 3D long ago, at least really nice 2D. But 3D gameplay is part of it, too. There are very few 2D games I like because I'm just not very entertained if I can't move around in a 3D world. When I was really young I played 2D games but games progressed quickly to 3D during my childhood and 2D hasn't been interesting to me since then. I can understand your sentiments of gameplay and story being more important, but I still have a baseline. I don't have a wii-u but I do have a 3DS....hopefully good 3D pokemon games will come out on it from now on and I'll get back into the franchise.

your arguments a well-written. I understand what you mean. I can agree with you that the latest gens have not the best graphics even on the DS. I guess you saw pokemon X and Y. I'm very sure that they won't stop using the fixed camera! I bet everything is full 3D now but you can't just spin your cam around.
In all pokemon-games I played, I have never seen a free-camera. Besides Pokemon-Snap (but there you were forced to sit in a lame vehicle).
Oh wait...pokemon-channel was a 3D game with a free-camera...I really wonder why I wasted so much time with this crappy game! xD Come on! You watch tv inside the tv to buy tvs....(yeah it consisted of more stuff but this irony!)
I played the pokemoncardgame on gameboy color that thing was pretty cool and somehow advanced for its time. When you turned the game off while battling you could just start where from there again. Which game at this time could do such crazy stuff?
I never played the real cardgame because my parents didn't buy me some cards but like you, I watched the movies and the tv-series.
Watching the pokemon X an Y trailer again I got really euphoric and now I WANT a 3ds! The graphics really got better and there also other great titles like animal-crossig. I wished for one on wii-u.
But you can check out PokΓ©mon Rumble Blast it's a full 3D pokemon-game for 3DS and it's more like a brawler-game.
I think you will decide at the and if you like pokemon or not...additional you're not like me (an idiot) who just buys it out of habit.
I even wish that more people would be like you and force nintendo to work on their games-quality instead of pushing one sequel/remake on the market after another.
The last pokemon-games were a bit boring that's what I have to admit.
Having high hopes in the new Y and X will make me buy a 3DS and animal-crossing if there won't be one for wii u.
Hope I didn't write too much!^^

lol, it's okay! This is an interesting conversation ^^ and yeah, I HOPE there are explorable 3D environments in pokemon x/y and you can move the camera around, but even fi you can't, it'll still be nice to have 3D graphics. Never heard of pokemon channel, was it good?
I never had a gameboy color, the first gameboy I had was advanced and that was a looong time after it came out so i didn't use it much....i was more interested in my PSP at the time! x_x I've heard of rumble blast, but I wa sunder the impression that the pokemon are the lowest quality 3D rendering possible, making them look like toys and not awesome monsters. Cute, but not the quality I'm looking for...and I also thought it was similar to colusseum in that you can't customize your pokemon team unless you transfer them from one of the 2D games.
3DS is a pretty great little system....I got it mostly so i could play LOZ: OoT 3D....I fell in love with the zelda series starting with OoT, so it's one of my favorite games. Its graphics werent too terrible to begin with, but they look much better on the 3DS version.
Don't feel bad about buying sequels just to buy 'em....although I don't do that with pokemon, I did do it for the bloody roar and dynasty warriors series', buying each new one that came out even if it barely improved over the last one, lol....I'm still dissappointed the bloody roar line stopped, even though it was getting crappier and crappier.
I was going to say something else but I forgot, lol! Say, how is the wii-u system? I don't know if I like that screened controller thing, but I have to admit it would have a few advantages...I may not get a wii-u until they come out with a new zelda game. At that point, well...I'll practically be forced to, lol!

Pokemon Channel was a game for kids...it was pretty stupid (and I wasted so much time playing it), it's like a pokemon-live-with-you-friendship-simulator where you nearly waste 90% of your playingtime watching tv with pikachu....
Pokemon Rumble is not low-quality but intended to look like toys. Like those windup-toys you can buy.
That's why they look more cute and gameboard-figure like than realistic.
I played OoT on N64. Of course are the graphics better xD like better textures. I bet the 3DS is a much stronger system than the N64. I loved this game as well but never played through it. My controllers are too worn out . Additional I'm at the point of the story where I have to visit the shadow temple...I'm scared! X_X
I feel bad about buying a game that I love and somehow hate. I love it because it belongs to a great series...but at the same time nintendo/gamefreak is just milking the customers and as you said the series gets crappier over time. (Like sonic) *sniff*
So you soon to be wii-u owner (there will be two new zelda-games).
At the moment I abuse my wii u as a mangareader (mangafox, mangareader, etc). I can stay in my bed and read mangas without using my tv.
There are no games I like to play yet that's why I can't say much about the playgame.
I played some monster hunter 3 ultimate...It's great that the game-pad has nice sound, build-in-microphone and playing with it isn't difficult. It's like playing with a normal controller. But I won't recommend just to play on the little screen, you get a bad headache very easily because of the small screen and the posture. (Like always staring down, your neck won't love it!)
(I can't use my tv because it's very old and so I barely can't see stuff on the big screen) But I think it's a great experience to play on the screen, while you have also little controll on your gamepad and additional information.
Sometimes you can adjust the game this way, that you have the map or inventory on the little screen and the main-game on the big one.
Going to buy Super Smash, Pokemon Rumble U, Mario Kart and Pikmin 3. yay and I like our conversation as well! ^^
π: 0 β©: 1
Talonclawfange In reply to Sorarey [2013-06-27 22:07:37 +0000 UTC]
lol...hm, I'm still thinking about rumble. Although I've never liked how cutesey pokemon were and wished they more were realistic and cool looking, I can appreciate a really cute look too. I bet mew is adorable on it.
Hope you pluck up the courage to finish OoT, it's really an awesome game. N64 controllers are probably pretty cheap these days.
And yes oh my gosh the sonic series. Where did it go wrong....it used to be so awesome. My brother and I literally spent HUNDREDS of hours playing sonic battle 2....best sonic game of all time if you ask me. the series has only gone downhill from there...
Oh man, two new zeldas coming out?! yes, I'll have to get a wii-u then! I managed to have the patience to wait to buy the 3DS until after it's price had dropped beneath what it was initially so that's probably what I'll do with the wii-u...wait till its been out long enough for a price drop, then nab it. It'll have more awesome games on it by then anyway.
Super Smash bros has been a favorite game of mine (all 3 of them) but I'm not so sure I like the new characters coming out in this iteration....but oh well, it should be a cool game anyway. I loved how they incorporated a story mode into SSBB. Mario cart's a classic, I'll probably get that too. Ive spent hours and hours racing friends on the wii version. Never played pikmin....will the pokemon rumble u have toy graphics too?

Sorarey In reply to Talonclawfange [2013-06-28 01:46:37 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I love pokemon more realistic as well, like real monsters. But I guess more people like the cute version more.
I don't know maybe I can play through it now but I have to admit...the zombies in OoT scared the shit out of me, especially their screams!!
Original Nintendo-Controllers are expensive as hell, sadly. We were looking for some last year then we bought some cheap ones. I hate to play with them, they look like the original but they feel totally different. Doesn't give a good gaming-experience. D:
I played sonic 3 on sega-mega drive II nearly every day with my best friend for hours!!! We also connected it with "Sonic&Knuckles" as extension. We played through it about 2-3 times a day. DD We were so crazy after it.
My last Sonic Games were Sonic Adventure Battle 2 and Sonic DX, but Sonic Battle 2 was so great. I fell in love with shadow in some way and Chaos! I love Chaos!
Shadow is like Sonic in the old days. The cool but silent guy. And his running-style is nice. Those boots, want some as well. lol
I wait for the 3DS to drop even more. I have no need for it right now.
There will be two Zeldagames. The first will arrive in October this year: The Legend of Zelda - Windwaker HD Remake. The other will come out next year but and I just red this will be the greatest Zelda-Game of all time! Nintendo said in a interview that they have the biggest team ever on this game but the title is unknown yet.
I never owned the first SSB for N64 but my friend did, we always played on endless time to beat the shit out of jigglypuff. Dirty little pink thing!?....xD
Afterwards I bought every game, which followed. I'm looking forward to the new one because of the updating function, so nintendo could even bring out new charakters! And not all new fighters are revealed yet. I find the idea of the animal-crossing villager and wii fit trainer just hilarious! Hope there will follow cool mew pokemon fighters. I loved mewto and lucario. Maybe they will add tails or shadow?
And such a storyline would be amazing as well. I liked it so much to see characters from different games acting together.
Did you see the comparison of the megaman 3D model and the old sprites? Nintendo did a really great job.
If not, here is the link [link]
There are even more moves which look alike!
The only mario cart game I own is double dash but I could play the wii version with my best friend online and raising the rank together was much fun. (it was no fun to play against cheaters/hacker or almighty asians lol)
Do you know "Little King's Story"? it's a bit like Pikmin but with a less smaller army and other upgrading-system, but I liked it much.
Yep, Pokemon Rumble U has the toyish graphics but as far as I can see, they really give you the impression that those are not real pokemon but toys.
Like they fall around like figures on a chessboard. That's pretty cool to give you the right feeling.
I won't say the graphics are bad but simple like a board game. You can check out this trailer if you like: [link]
Maybe I will give the new Zelda in 2014 a try. Do you know more amazing games we didn't talk about yet?
π: 0 β©: 1
Talonclawfange In reply to Sorarey [2013-06-30 16:06:32 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I'd love it if pokemon either redesigned their monsters to be realistic for a special game or if a new series came out which had cool realistic monsters (I've seen a few very minor series' whcih attempt this, like jewel summoner for PSP and dragon island for iphone...but theyre pretty small time. I DID love Jewel Summoner's story though...) And I lose the scary aspect of OoT XD but I guess thats cuz i also love scary games like silent hill, left for dead, and resident evil. How dissappointing that the controllers are expensive though...I guess they're 'vintage' now instead of just old, lol!
And yeah I remember the hours and hours of fun me and my bro had on Sonic adventure battle 2... lol we'd be totally nerdy and talk to eachother like we were the characters we picked. It was so much fun...we raised some cool chaos and RP-played with them too! ah the good old days...
I'm excited about the new zelda game you mentioned, but i don't care much about the windwaker HD remake...even if the graphics are smoother, they're still chibi and i don't care for the tooney style.
I played and loved every SSB game...maybe I will get the new one if they havent unveiled allt he characters yet. I don't care about the wii trainer or megaman, although my brother does like megaman a lot so I'll have to at least play it with him.
never heard of little king's story and never played pikmin...I guess you coudl say I'm into more serious games. The most cutesy/toony I'll get with games is mario style and up. Well, with ONE exception....I do like cat games.
Mostly I'm into adventure games like zelda, fighting games like soul calibur and bloody roar, and RPG games like the final fantasy series. I have tried a new game recently though that i've liked so far: Phoenix Wright Ace Attourney for DS. The graphics are nothing special but they do draw the characters nicely like in anime, so i don't mind there not being 3D graphics. It's more of an intellectual game whcih is off the beaten path for me, but it's cool so far. Pretty funny, too.

Sorarey In reply to Talonclawfange [2013-06-30 23:50:55 +0000 UTC]
That would be a great idea. Most games which offer pet taming and training functions use itzy-bitzy-cute style (sorry for the word but I guess it fits most xD). And often it's very boring to train them so they focus more on other stuff than training pets.
I used to play a game, there you could capture monsters and train them as well. It's called "Lost Magic" for DS. Somehow it was a great game, where you have to play a mage (via drawing symbols on your screen or even mix them to create stronger ones, the more exactly you drew the symbols the stronger was your damage inflicted on the enemy). You had to build up a little monster-army which fought for you and protected the maincharacter.
I bet you like this artist a lot! [link]
If you like scary games...you will love "Amnesia". I played this game with my sister and we were soooo f*cking scared!!! >.<
Mario party killed the 3D stick because you had to rotate it a lot. So the stick isn't straight anymore if you tilt the controller a bit it will fall to one side. xD
You're sooo right. I can't understand why everyone waits so much for the windwaker-remake...I never liked the graphics and Link just looks stupid. xD
I don't think they revealed all characters of SSBU yet, just look at the variety of brawlers you have on the former game. I don't think they will reduce the amount of playable characters. Nintendo just reached a point where variety will be the core gameplay. Better internet-support, updateable gamecontent? If nintendo just listened a bit to the community, this game will be sooo great!
Serious games? That sounds so wrong...for me it means you play learning-games. xD
Guess you ment more realistic graphics or maybe a more detailed style. As I said Pikmin 1 was soooo difficult I never played through the game and as you can see, both games are strategy. I mean they are indeed serious...well at least they have a learning-curve, not like Tetris. xD
But I guess you won't enjoy games if your eyes won't enjoy them, right?
I never bought one of the newer Super Mario games. The last I bought was Super Mario Sunshine and Mario Kart Double Dash.
If you like catgames, you should play Hello Kitty! JOKE! DD
I play Guild Wars 2, my Maincharacter is a Charr (Catlike creature), does that count as well?
I'm not so into adventure but the more into puzzlegames, RPG, sometimes Beat'em'Ups. But I like also alternative, new and fresh gameplays which are just new to the market (or at least to me).
If you like RPGs, you should try Xenoblade Chronicles for wii. I didn't play through it yet but it's amazing how BIG the maps are and you can walk everywhere what you can see. As far as I heard, you need about 160h to complete the whole game.
I already hear of Phoenix Wright. My friend loved to play this. Maybe I should try it on a DS simulator first. (The older versions). Because I don't know if I like it. At the the time when Phoenix Wright came out there was also "Elite Beat Agents" that game looked very funny.
You have to touch points the the screen in time to collect points, while the figures dance in the background and show you what happens if you succeed or fail.
The most fancy game I played was "puzzle quest" it's a rpg-puzzle game mix. You have to fight against enemies using the bejeweled board and you can use skills or spells influencing the fight or gameboard. You can even tame mounts and this game has also a storyline.
Sadly the game was ported from the DS on wii so the graphics were bad and the controls were imprecise.
Otherwise the game would have been a very great because it offered a lot of options mixed with this bejeweled fighting-style. I love bejeweled! xD

You're right; i don't understand why there aren't more games out there with cool-looking monsters. Square Enix should make a monster training game- their monsters are AWESOME! and yes, i like that artist a lot, except the way they draw mew...it's more gross than cute, lol. I imagined a relaistic mew having fur and looking more like a cat than an alien blob of flesh.
Are you talking about Amnesia on steam? My brother got it for me but I havent had time to play it yet :/ hopefully i will soon! I'll tell you one thing though, the simplest and scariest game I've played is Slender, and it's free
And yeah i totally agree about Nintendo needs to listen to its fans to make games truly great....a lot of game companies go wrong when they start doing wierd stuff their fans don't like and end up losing support and interest in their games.
By serious, I don't mean games that aren't fun and unrealistic. I Just mean games that aren't sutesy and childish. I would consider final fantasy games, resident evil/scary games, fighting games, and zelda games to be 'serious' by this definition. By contrast, non seriosu games would be like mario and kirby, all colorful and light-hearted. I play games liek that now and then but they're not my preferred type of game. I've heard about guild wars 2 and it sound like something I'd like, especially with the cat people!
xenoblade has some fantastic graphics and themes I'd like, so i would like to try it sometime. However I don't get a lot of time to play these days so the 160+ hours might be a bit of a problem, heh. The 160+ hours is probably for all playable content, right? Do you knwo how long it'd take to complete just the main storyline?
Yeah the first experience i had with phoenix wrigth games was on an emulator on my computer but it was glitchy...then a coule years later i got interested in the managa, and finally I bought the games.
Bummer about puzzle quests controls being messed up....when i first got a PS3, I got the backplayable version that woudl play PS2 games, but the timing was off when I'd try to play PS2 DDR games on it! So, i returned it and got the non-backplayable version plus an independant PS2, which DDR worked just fine on

Haha yes! Mew looks horrible!
Do you know Monsterhunter? That would be amazing if they would do some kind of 3D-Monstergame (not only hunting). Their animations look so real in some ways and their design isn't bad either. Square Enix makes great games, the only thing I dislike...tooooo much asian looks. Somehow as european I somehow feel left out.
Yeah the steam-game "Amnesia". If you think slender was scarie...you will have nightmares of amnesia! This fucking game does know how to make you shit your pants! I can tell! xD
Listen. Huge game companies only do shit with their games because they know this stuff will sell! Look at EA "The Sims" nothing really changed even the expansions are always the same since generation1!!! I played them all (didn't buy them lol).
EA even destroyed many good games with high value due to their uniqueness. But what they did instead? They stopped the production of those games (like dungeon keeper) and produced harry potter games! Why? Because this shit sells a lot better because it became famous by the movies and books.
Every parents who have children will buy those shitty games for them. They prefer to make profit instead of giving variety to the world.
And now they're selling the licenses of those games to random asian companies who destroy the originality of the series. It's totally a shame what EA is doing!
I wish that EA would lose as much so they have to change, but that won't happen. As long as there are enough idiots buying their recycled trash.
About serious games. Looks like to me that you like games with story and most of the cute-childish games won't provide a good one. You can't add much of drama or sad stuff in super mario or kirby. That's kind of boring! Pokemon Rumble would be more like a fighting game for me, that's why I don't need the super-serious graphics.
So to say I guess you love variety, am I right?
Those cat-people are called "Charr" if they don't hold a weapon in their paws they will run on 4 legs, I love it!
About xenoblade don't play this game on an old TV! I can barely play it because the graphics are too squeezed and will hurt your eyes, like flickering.
160h is to complete the whole game with all collecting-content+side-quests. I didn't play through it yet but I'm pretty sure you won't need 160h just to complete the storypart.
My first ps I got was ps2 and will be the last one! It broke after 2-3 years and won't read a single dvd or cd anymore, that just sucks because I have over 40 games (ps1 and ps2) in total. All PS- or Xbox-generations had in some way flaws which ended with a broken console. That's why I trust more in nintendo. But also I'm disappointed because they just recycle games instead of doing something new and they keep creating consoles which are so behind the latest technology. That's a no-go! Wii was already very behind but they did something new with their controllers. But now nintendo goes pretty much back to the roots and still provides graphics which are older than 6 years or more.
Guess nintendo got a huge slap in the face with their bad sales quotes of the wii u. Just as little reminder not only to copy stuff you already saw on the wii.

holycrap I'm so sorry it took me forever to reply to this! I went to a base with crappy internet for a while ;
Yes I've played monster hunter...I love the monster designs, but I don't care for the gameplay. I love the looks of square enix characters....I'm not asian either, but growing up I was very attracted to asians so i didn't mind lol! I've gotta try amnesia....my bro bought it for me on steam but I havent had time to play it yet, and the internet is too slow here so I'll have to wait until I get home...
And I agree, sadly. While there are some companies that continue to provide high quality games, they still put out crappy ones now and then just to make money....and then even more sadly theres some companies that start out with a great game then just keep on cranking out very slightly altered versions of it that either dont improve at all on the last one or are even worse than the last one, just because they know people will buy it...like Spyro! OMGosh, I HATE how the new spyro looks... I liked the first two spyro games, but all the games between those and dawn of the dragon sucked. Now dawn of the dragon was good, because it added new INTERESTING playable characters (namely Cynder) exellent graphics, spyro grew and looked more mature, and new dimensions of gameplay that were worthwhile....then they come out with this skylanders crap! Spyro looks like someone punched his nose in, and from what i can tell, the story and gameplay went to crap. Very disappointing!
Yes, i do love variety. Although serious games like RPGs are my favorite, I also own cuter games like mario and spyro, and differently types of gameplay like phoenix wright. I even have a couple of really kiddish fun games like pet cats games lol but thats because I really like cats
Oh yeah, i've played newer games on old TVs before...not a good idea! These days game companies assume everyone has a big screen to play on, so they make the text tiny lol...
As for Ps2, i understand. My first ps2 broke very quickly as well, but then a few years later I got my slim model and it has lasted very well. Nintendo products however....indestructable! I have an old N64 that STILL works, even though it had a full-length mirror broken over it and we used to play it all the time! Nintendo makes very reliable consoles, but you're right; they are notorious for recycling games and creating stuff that doesnt quite keep up with other consoles processor and graphics-wise. And yeah....I'm dissappointed in the wii-u....maybe I'll like it when I eventually get one, but that'll be a while cuz i don't like it's looks. Do better next time, nintendo!
