Hey there! I found this old forum about Graphic Tablet advice and found your advice to be the kind im looking for (and judging by your gallery, I'd say you know what you're talking about ).
So I'm a beginner looking to get an awesome tablet (entry/mid range, not too expensive). What do Wacom Intuos offer that makes them so kick-ass ?

Hello,
I am not a Wacom employee, so below information are strictly from my experience.
For start, to enter the realm of digital art, investment in a drawing tablet is a must.
Wacom tablets are an industry standard due to their superior drawing respond and pressure sensitivity.
I have used some cheap tablets before, and their resolution and drawing respond are so horrible that drawing a circle will end up with sharp edges.
Wacom tablet’s pens used a patented technology so they do not require battery, and are much lighter and easier to handle.
Unfortunately, Wacom products are very expensive.
Currently, Wacom renamed their Bamboo tablets into Intuos.
The old professional Intuos tablets are now called Intuos Pro.
If you never used a tablet before, I recommend Wacom’s Intuos Pen.
It only comes in small size, but it has the most reasonable price tag at $79.
www.wacom.com/en/us/creative/i…
I suggest using this table and try to see if you can handle a drawing tablet.
You must learn how to draw with eyes on the monitor and hand drawing on a different surface.
It requires practice, and not every artist can handle this.
The small tablet is enough to draw nice digital art for hobbyists.
But if your art requires more details, then using a bigger tablet is recommended.
Wacom’s Intuos Pen & Touch comes in a medium size, but at a price of $199.
www.wacom.com/en/us/creative/i…
My tablet does not have touch features, so I cannot comment on how well it works.
But the bigger size does help me add more details in my art.
The Intuos Pro is the professional grade tablet. The medium size is $349…
I bought mine before they rename it into Intuos Pro.
Mine was the Intuos 4. The current Intuos Pro is based on the Intuos 5 version.
www.wacom.com/en/us/creative/i…
Again it features touch sensitivity.
The pen has 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity (compare to the 1024-level on the non-pro version).
However, if you are not drawing a 700 dpi 10000x10000 pixel poster, you most likely will not feel the difference.
The pen also recognizes a 60 degree range tilt.
The tilt recognition works well on brush tools in software that features them.
Also, the tablet can detects pen rotation.
Unfortunately, it requires a separate purchase of a Wacom “Art Pen”.
It is $99.95 for this pen, so I never got one to try the rotation feature ><
The tablet has express keys and touch ring to for you to customize keys, but I never used mine.
The keyboard is enough for me.
The tablet has a better resolution, and I think that’s about it.
Of course there is also the drawing monitor, Wacom Cintiq, where you draw directly on the screen.
This eliminates the problem of eye and hand coordination many encounter when using a drawing tablet.
The catch?
The currently cheapest Cintiq tablet is $999.
I was never able to try one.
So I think a medium size Pen & Touch tablet should be enough for hobbyists to produce quality digital art. You will also need to invest in a digital drawing software to use along with your tablet.
Wacom tablet comes with some very basic drawing software, but they are very basic, and one might find them lacking.
I think that’s about all there is that I can provide about the basics of drawing tablets.
Check out Wacom’s website if you are interested.

Thank you so much for this insightfull response . I've been messing around on Photoshop for awhile now-with a damn mouse, and as you can guess I haven'e been having the best of luck with it. Attempting to get the larger Intous or even the Cintiq, is waaay out me head for now .
As per your recommendation, I've been looking around online for the Intous small and meduim ranges and the price is very reasonable (where I live, its about $120). I think I'll start off with a small (simple becasue it's cheaper ) and then invest in a better one over the years.
Thanks again for this, I didn't think I'd get anything longer than a paragraph!

The-Blue-Wind In reply to Tomek1000 [2013-07-08 00:56:06 +0000 UTC]
Hello,
Currently I am focusing on a project so I don't have time for complex commission.
I can still draw and color 1 character with simple background for $15 to $20 depending on the complexity.
Payment only accepted through PayPal.

Hello, thank you for your concern.
The comic stripe he posted was a paid commission he requested from me.
So in other words, he paid for the comic, and can modify or post the art on his account.

Hey. I saw your picture on your Pokemon team. Nice. I was wondering if you could do the same for my team? If you need to know the team, look at my submissions. It's in the folder titled Writing. It's based on my actual team in Black version. Thanks!
