I know. its very annoying.   but at least I can chaulk it up as being High Gothic  while The Imperial Guard is the Low gothic interation of the Army.   it kind of makes sense then.   and the codex does still have the name of Imperial Guard within its pages in regards to that Army.   So its not that huge of a change.

There is no way that could be true. Unless it went back to being called 'The Imperial Army', from the herecy era, but that sounds no where near as impressive as the Imperial Guard. I think it very unlikely. It's just as if you changed the name of Space Marines or Tyranids, it just couldn't be done.

Also Rumors say that these name changes are all because GW wants to trademark its names and Imperial Guard is a name they cannot trade mark as it is too common.   That and they are scared to the point of pissing themselves at Disney because apparently the Red Guard guys who guarded Emperor Palpatine are called Imperial Guard as well, and they fear that they will lose against Disney because Disney has more money.

Because we wouldn't want an Eldar princess.There meant to be obliterated by Chaos, necrons, Orks, spessh marines and the Imperial Guard. While I do somewhat like the Eldar, wh40k and Disney are completely different things. Like oil and water.

I too hope that its just bullshit heretical rumors and nothing more.    but I think its best to hope for the best while preparing for the worst.  Because signs seem to be pointing that its true.

Afterall this is from the same company that made the Ultramarines into "perfect" space marines and that all Space marine Chapters "look up to" them and that they are their "spiritual Liege".  And they Have The Grey Knights act like they belong to Khorne by killing sisters and bathing their armor in blood to "supposedly" ward off demonic taint, ((even when the lore clearly states that they are utterly incorruptible)), all to claim a deamonic sword.   

And lets not forget the whole Blood angels becoming super-pals with the Necrons to kill Nids.  And the fact that the Necrons have turned from soulless, soul-harvesting terminators into Tomb kings in space, where they suddenly have personalities and one of them decided to "collect" objects of great importance from across the Galaxy to hang on his shelf so to speak.  Like Sebastian Thor's preserved head.

As for me, if its true then ill stay with the current 5th edition codex.  and stay in the past,  Pretty much boycotting the new codex entirely.  

P.S. It is in this Governor-Militant's opinion that GW wants to run themselves into the ground, possibly to collect on some kind of insurance policy.   Plus they are just Cowards who make excuses to justify their stupid changes.   And as you know, Excuses are the refuge of the weak.

I unfortunately have been unable to. But it is on the to do list... Not many people play in my area either. so odds are a bit stacked against me. Which edition rule-book would you recommend? I plan to pick up one of the older ones and play with those rules so i can learn them (I plan to get all the rule books but i just need a starting point

Save your money, and rather than buy different rule books, just get the newest edition Rules. They have changed substantially since the last edition, and are in my opinion better, and you will need those rules if you ever decide to play at a games workshop, or warhammer tournament. Do you have an Imperial Guard codex?

Well, it's something really good to have for ANYONE who has an interest in the Imperial Guard. Not only rules specific to the guard, but also it's history, characteristics and so on. I highly recommend it.
