I am the same way - think it's cool when a characters home area is featured anywhere, whether a movie or a news vid.
Always knew they really existed. Traveled a lot as a kid. Never been to them, but knew about them from traveling around with my folks (military brat). There are a lot of quirky cities and towns. Hell, my maiden name is a city in Finland, LOL (which is where my father's side is from).

It's apparently the Finnish equivalent of Smith or Johnson, LOL. And I did some research and can't find any records of my great grandfather before he came to the USA. No birth records, no anything. I just know he came thru Ellis Island when he was around 17/18 and it's like he didn't exist prior to that. So I've started to wonder if he just gave a common name and it wasn't his real identity.

I have. Thats how i was able to trace things. I can go back to 1700's for numerous relatives but cant find shit on my great grandpa before 1913

Pleasure to meet you as well! I just live my life how I want to live it. I do have responsibilities but I also find the time to do the things I absolutely love. The ex tool has been behind me almost 9 yrs now. I will say just make sure that is what you really want. Don't do it on impulse.
