# About me
Just a city boy, born and raised in South Chicago. I took the midnight train going to the middle of Kansas.Less middle, really, more on the north-eastern side.
Student at the University of Kansas; lover of all things Zombie or Giant Monster related; aspiring novelist and or screenwriter and or director and or paleontologist and or medical examiner and or psychologist/psychiatrist/sociologist and or teacher. And or Spaceman. Or apocalypse survivor. Slash warlord.
I have a number of projects I'm currently working on, some are more fully formed than others. Currently I don't know when they'll officially be released on this account, what the timescale will be between releases of issues/chapters, or the schedule of what gets released and in what order.
List of Programs:
*White Rabbit - My first original characters ever, the oldest is about 12 years old now. It's a kaiju story revolving around alternate dimensions co-mingling, hence the title, and it holds its origin with me smashing around with with my toys on a saturday morning, watching a Godzilla marathon. The characters have grown from there, taken on a life of their own, and now they've gotten here: with their own novel series. Nine in total for the biggest and most interesting of the big bads, with comic book like "issues" scattered between the end of one novel and the beginning of the next for the other monsters, this is tied for first place among my favorite pet projects.
*Desperado - A western-styled long-post-apocalypse comic book like series surrounding the adventures of a bounty hunter, an outlaw, a half-breed, and a vampire jack-of-all-trades. Did I mention that this was a science-fiction based approach to the mythical, supernatural, and religious? Darien, a lawyer-turned-Bounty Hunter on a Mission from God, joins Mac, the scotsman hitman, Cydonia Artemis Django, the half-human half-demon, and Jared Smith, a Vampire who's also a demonologist, exorcist, vampire hunter, religious scholar, and plenty of other masteries one can develop over a career spanning several hundred years. The basic plot: hunt down and capture Rogues, angels, demons, ghosts, etc, either dead or alive. Well, so to speak. Think of this as "Supernatural" with a Doctor Who twist.
*Talon - Set in the same universe as Desperado but focusing more on the human technology than the advanced "alien" magic/technology. While Desperado is much more steampunk, this is more cyberpunk, with a bit of diesel and steam and even a bit of biological modification. It follows the stories of a genetically spliced super-soldier with a roaming band of heroic miscreants; including Sobek the Man-Croc, an expert huntress, and a man with cybernetic augmentations--a badass Inspector Gadget.
*Hawthorne - A prequel of sorts to Desperado and by extension Talon, the story follows a man by the name of Abraham Hawthorne as he trains a high schooler to join him in hunting and killing vampires, as well as the high schooler balancing his school, work, and night life.
Somewhat inspired by Fright Night, with the main character's name being an allusion to Abraham van Helsing (and Abraham Lincoln, notable historic Vampire Hunter and 16th president) and the Hawthorn plant, poisonous to the vampire. I anticipate this to be a rather long-running series, not unlike Desperado or Talon, with multiple story arcs as it continues from the first season onward. Written to mimic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories (ie, first person but the "hero" is not the speaker), this one is somewhere between White Rabbit and Talon/Desperado. While the latter two are more comic-book like and can be assembled into volumes by story arcs and the former is intended as a novel series broken up by comic book like issues, Hawthorne is assembled more like a novel, but stretched out with many smaller arcs throughout. Best analogous program I can think of in that regard is Showtime's version of Dexter.
*The Menagerie - What happens when five of the wealthiest old men get bored? They buy an island and build the world's largest zoo, of course! And within it they intend to contain the most elusive creatures known to men and unknown to science: Cryptids. But they have to find them first. The stories follow a group of men and women; survivalists, hunters, biologists, cryptozoologists, etc. as they track down and capture creatures that as-yet go unrecognized as real.
*Thomas C. Hill - Part parody of Superman, part Doctor Who, part 2012 doomsday alien invasion movie, part Ancient Aliens (as an aside, why is that on the History Channel?), with a pinch of Indiana Jones and Assassin's Creed inspiration, this one should be pretty fun. I already have plenty of ideas for designs and stories, I just have to work up the nerve to put pen to paper. Title's a reference to the Tommyknockers by Stephen King and the Betty and Barney Hill abduction. Not sure what the C stands for, but it just sounds so right.
Possible Projects:
*The Horde - Road-trip style zombie comedy.
*
Film Projects:
*Little Shop of Horrors - Just as it says, a remake of the classic horror-com-musical.
*Riley Reviews... - a movie critic vlog
*Deadsville - My pride and joy. Inspired by my first viewing of Zombieland, this thing has changed so much over the years: first a Seinfeld-esque "show about nothing" in the post-apocalypse to the more Scrubs/Psych-like dramedy it is today. Even the format has changed, first being a web-series that never got off the ground to a more serious take on the concept that hopefully will, and hopefully by way of Showtime, or TNT, or CBS, or...well, anything but NBC and FOX, who cancel things at the drop of a hat.
And aside from these projects, I hope to be able to do one short story per day. Or maybe every other day. Either way, the goal there is to get my writing sharper, get a style down, and not fall into a lack of writing over large periods of time. Which tends to happen.
Oh, yeah, and for some of these (The Menagerie, White Rabbit, Desperado, Talon) I'll be doing illustrations of the creatures. O joy, for I do suck so greatly at drawing. Worse than drawing monsters is people, which I'll do for Hawthorne, Talon, Desperado, and the alien series.
Do tear them apart, please. Even the dullest blade can be honed, right?
