I thought might find these interesting, got them at a show, they're reproductions of the medals that were given to the captain, officers and crew of the RMS Carpathia.

Today is the 70th anniversary of the sinking of the "Wilhelm Gustloff", a German refugee ship carrying roughly 10600 people to safety from the soviet advance.
only 1230 survived when the ship was sunk by a soviet submarine.
the titanic is famous because there were celebrities aboard and there is so much glamor attached to it; the Wilhelm Gustloff is forgotten because the victims were German refugees at the end of WWII.

Well, seeing as the Titanic was more of a natural disaster than a carefully planned massacre....
It's a bit more warranted to be intrigued at how life in the early 1900s went so wrong in one fateful night because of a combination of human error, mechanical technicalities, and sheer dumb luck, rather than if someone was interested in how evil a group of humans can be.
The Titanic was a beautiful ship that was supposed to be the future of ships, it was supposed to change history. It ended up changing history in a different way than expected, though. But history is frozen at the bottom of the Atlantic-- and how is that not freaking awesome and creepy at the same time? It's also completely different than, like I said, a planned massacre that was supposed to bring fame and glory to the kamikaze pilots as well as the terrorists who hired them.
But the real point is-- well, 1.Why are you here if you're not a fan of the Titanic? Searching for innocent groups to rain hate down upon because you have nothing better to do? Or do *you* have a obsession with 9/11 that you're just trying to justify or hide by bashing something completely not related to that at all? What does our group and its stats mean to you if you're not even interested in it?
and 2. I really shouldn't have even bothered trying to explain to you, but I hope you read my explanation and have some respect for those with other interests than you. We're not all carbon copies of your preferences, and neither are we going to change to suit you. Also, you're being blocked from our group entirely because we don't need your kind of negativity affecting our members. Goodbye.

The Royal Mail Ship Titanic was a Olympic Ocean Liner built by the Harland and Wolf company in Belfast, Ireland for the White Star Line, she was the second of three Olympic class ships ordered by The White Star Line, her captain for her maiden voyage was Captain John Edward Smith, they changed thier crew at the last minute, she set sail from Southampton Dock on Wednesday 10th April 191, at around 12 noon and headed for cherburg, before making one last stop off from Queensland, Ireland. SThen on Sunday April 14th at around 11:30pm she struck an iceburg and sunk approx 3 hours later at around 2:20am on Monday Morning of April 15th 1912. - Thought I share some knowledge of Titanic I picked up in the last ten years

awesome thanks for the info... Titanic is one of my favourite true stories, I love the movie James Cameroon did, it potrayed the disaster then any other Titanic film I seen, did'nt care for Jack & Rose just how horrible it was on the night the great ship sank.
