no problem, been enjoying your stories. I'm not a huge shipping fan but I do love well written fics

...So then why do you read mine?

XD, no, I kid. Thanks, though. Fun fact, I never intended to write a shipping fic at all when I started. It's just where my fingers went. Suddenly it was AppleShy all over the place and people liked it. And who am I to deny them?

Heh fair enough.

I did eventually get around to reading that main fic and found it relatively enjoyable. It's clear you have a good grasp of the character's quirks and voices, I found the scene of AJ and Granny very natural. I also really enjoyed First Date (though I haven't faved it yet) it was bittersweet but that's how life can be sometimes even for ponies

That being said though the Big Mac side story was really my favorite thing you've done this will be a weird compliment but I was very impressed by the fight... adapting fight scenes to characters without humanoid forms can be awkward and your fic is the first one that came off very natural. I've been working on Crossover/Fusion thing that's going to require sparring/fights and I had trouble trying to picture how that would translate to being ponyfied... needless to say this helped on top of being a good read

I've spent a lot of time over the past four years adapting characters for fight scenes. I may not have written fiction in over two, but I kept up with simple things. The problem with ponies when it comes to fight scenes is that it's hard to take their environment into consideration - four hooves mean any number of things, but in a fight you've got to account for every hoof serving as a motion, a resistance, and a weapon all at once. I only got to use the loose sand of Appleoosa once or twice. I figured I'd keep the fight scene centered on the ideas of a more 'gentlemanly' duel, which devolved slowly as Black grew more and more frustrated.

So it's not a weird compliment... It's more of one that makes me relieved that I'm on the right track.

Fun fact: When Big MacIntosh started out? He was a fighter named Little Mac.

Heh I did catch that Punch out reference when I read it earlier.

My main thing I'm trying to wrap my brain around is Martial arts (going for a fusion of Ranma 1/2 into FiM)... clearly they have them in equestria as there is a dojo in ponyville used as part of applebloom's training, er cute mark montage. Working out the feel for how a fight could go... comparing a Pegasus' fighting style to an earth pony etc. it's an interesting challenge. I do see what you mean taking hooves into consideration differently then one needs to consider fists and feet of a human... plus footing and balance play so much more of a role for pony on pony conflict.

on more of a side I'm having MUCH harder times with names... trying to find appropriate 'pony' names and marks for the characters I'm converting is a little maddening. You want it to fit the character's traits and persona but at the same time not be to awkward to actually call them by. It's a balancing act to be sure.

Sometimes it's just fun to play with really stupid names and just start a word association with a friend. Sooner or later a good name should show up. They don't even have to know you're writing for pony!
