Hi
I'm currently trying to do a large piece, like the one you did of Amaterasu (not the red one), although I'm using slightly different colours and such, but I didn't have pegboards to fit the whole thing, so I did segments intending to fuse the segments together afterwards..
It's nearly finished now but I'm unsure how to do it all xDΒ
Do you do segments or do you have 30 pegboards going on at the same time when you do big pieces?

Hi! I absolutely love your work so keep it up please! haha. I was just wondering, if you would give an insight to pricing? I have been working with perler/hama beads for 4/5 months now, and this going well and is easily affordable. Obviously I understand every persons expenses and income are different, I figured out that each pixelhobby board (full of beads) comes out to around $7.68, so this would put, say your tower of Kefka project, at roughly $550, is this a fairly accurate projection? Sorry if this is a bit invasive, I am just really interested in PixelHobby.

Just curiousity, but I have a very, very bright room in my home, where every poster tends to get fried by the sunlight really fast, and I'm looking for a way to decorate the walls a bit. Are the beads you're using light resistant? Or do they get pale too, with time?

I wish I could tell you for sure, instead of hanging all of them up, I tend to rotate which few I am displaying at a time. Β So they don't get exposed to that much sunlight to begin with. Β

In case of your works; definitely makes sense. No one wants to lose such amazing pictures because the sunlight burned them away. Though it would be an interesting test, to leave a bunch of perler beads (that was the name, right? ) in the sunlight, to see the long-time-exposure effects. Sorry, I'm naturally curious and finding a way to decorate a wall that gets about 4 hours of direct and up to 12 hours of indirect sunlight each day became a bit of a holy grail for me. d:

Not sure where you are from, but in the US Perler beads are easy to get and Hama are tougher. I get my Perler beads from EkSuccessBrands and I get my Hama from EBay seller BakersKidsCraftsBooks

Awesome gallery! Especially the Metroid piece, just epic. Do you still use Perler/Hama? (It's the first time I hear of the beads you used for the Metroid art)

Thanks! Yeah, I still use Perler/Hama beads as well as the Pixel Hobby beads. It just depends on what I feel like, the Pixel Hobby projects are more of a committment since they take 10x as long as a piece made with Perler beads.

wow! I'm so impressed by your perler beads! My husband and I do beads together though I don't have any of our work up on devart. Really good job :3 your fusing is so even and perfect! *3* do you only do one side?

Thanks! Yes, I only iron one side, I leave the side showing un-ironed.

Your gallery is simply stunning. How long does it normally take you for the large pieces?
π: 0 β©: 1
Wacker00 In reply to UndergroundCaptain [2012-07-11 21:08:34 +0000 UTC]
Thanks, it takes about 45 minutes to put down 1000 beads. So something like the Neku and Shiki piece took about 14 hours.

Oh wow. Do you use pixelated reference pictures for guidance? Your pieces look exactly like the original art work!
π: 0 β©: 1
Wacker00 In reply to UndergroundCaptain [2012-07-11 21:26:12 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I use either the original game art or custom artwork done by pixel artists. If the art was taken from sources other than the official game art, it is noted in the descriptions.
The only ones I have actually made my own patterns for are Master Chief and Amateratsu. The original images were too large and would have taken millions of beads.

I really liked the Amateratsu! Everything flowed really well together! Keep it up! I look forward to seeing more!
