Well, I just thought that you maybe interested in the information that comes from the place, where Russian jet fighters are made, especially such examples as T-50, Su-30MK2 and Su-35S. I don't work on the assembling line, though, I'm just a CNC-lathe operator. However, I see and hear some things that are hidden for the others... At least, I can show you some insides of the Russian aircraft-building plant.

Well, I dunno man. There's not much to do anymore now that it's practically dead. Freelancer is still one of my favorite games of all time. I played and modded it for almost 10 years. I still love the game. I always will.

As for them just being there for the art... I'd say it's even sadder that the only reason I have anything remotely resembling a presence here is because of pony stuff but them's the breaks. I have no one to blame but myself.

I unfortunately agree, the servers are deader than the Graveyard of the Innocents ( )...the playerbase is too tiny, the forums of almost every single server is populated with tumbleweed, and worst of all the more (read: vaguely) active ones are filled with playermade rules like some autistic Nuzlocke ...

How peculiar that there are people still updating their mods; namely the self-proclaimed "Freelancer 2.0" Crossfire. And I'm pretty sure that not everyone will have a powerful enough PC to play Star Citizen and most of the new or recent ones are either too steep in requirements, too steep in learning curve, or too simplistic and linear for me to get that "freedom" feeling. So are you working on something for the internet right now??

I sure know how that feels...people come to me for the butts, and almost everyone who visits me is more into the games too many people usually play like TF2 and Pokemon. Ironic that I can better relate with you than a majority of my watchers. Though for the record I bought it on myself as well.

I am working on nothing other than Flight Highschool and the occasional Kerbal Space Program mod. As for OPR8R and Crossfire, he is just completely insane. He's absolutely nuts and has caused so many headaches for the Freelancer community as a whole for reasons that are beyond mine and everyone else's comprehension.

I think Star Citizen will be pretty cool though. It's the closest you're going to get. I also highly suggest you keep an eye out for Limit Theory. It's a space game that's very inspired by Freelancer and being developed by a genius. It's not out yet, and there's nothing to play, but check out his development videos. It's hard not to get excited with what he's up to.

I keep hearing about Crossfire being filled with insane admins; and since you're the second to say they're actually insane, can I get a clue on what's going on?? Well, I guess the whole "Putting a wall of text in the middle of the New York system like a horrid star wars intro" and "Destroying the F1 key even in Single Player just to Increase Immersion" IS kind of a dead giveaway but I don't get the bigger picture...am I missing something??

And if this guy is so infamous, why is his mod so....highly acclaimed?? I mean seeing it in the Top 100 Moddb awards does feel a bit unsettling if the freelancer community actually despises him THAT much. Is he like the CWC-chan of the FL community or something??

Shit, I don't have the goods to play Star Citizen...but HOLY FUCK LIMIT THEORY LOOKS LIKE THE NEXT REVOLUTION THIS GAMING INDUSTRY NEEDS barring Project Phoenix. I can see the eyelid gutting ambition but what is Josh Parnell a genius for?? Ultimately though, I REALLY love the way 88Flak balances the ships and makes them ALL viable choices...so I hope at least THAT could be taken into account...Oh, have you heard of "Enemy Starfighter"?? Its like Starlancer with more randomized events or something...also Strategy.

For why OPR8R is insane. It's too much to list. It's just too much. Crossfire isn't a bad mod by any means. I have nothing against it. It's OPR8R that I and many other do not like.

Limit Theory does indeed look great. If you've read any of Parnell's dev diaries and understand the approach he's taking to all this you would know. Almost everything in that game is procedurally generated. This guy is brilliant. Nothing short of genius. Chris Roberts actually tried to hire this guy for Star Citizen but he turned it down so he could keep working on Limit Theory.

Enemy Starfighter looks fantastic and I can't wait. It's a mishmash of two of my favorite science fiction styles: Battlestar Galactica and Homeworld. I'm definitely picking that up once it comes out.

As for Limit Theory I'm more surprised about the fact that he asks WAY too little for a game that is almost as endless as Virtual Hydlide except not shitty. And I wonder how Faction creation works...but I'm more worried about the backstory being procedurally generated like that Mech Roguelike game not everyone plays.

Enemy Starfighter looks like a winning wet dream of Space Combat game fans if they pull it off right, just imagine randomly generated events with a scaling amount of opportunities. Do you think something could possibly go wrong other than crashes and poorly implemented controls?? 

On another note, have you withstood space RPGs with steep learning curves like Elite and the X3 series??

As soon as a game starts releasing ingame footage, you can get a feel for how the game fundamentally works. Enemy Starfighter has a very solid base and a lot of good theory behind it so I think it'll be fine. 

I have a very weird relationship with the X series. I do genuinely like the X series, but I struggle to enjoy them. Egosoft and the X series is the greatest example I've ever seen of good ideas with poor execution. Almost everything in the entire series falls under that. The ideas and mechanics for a great game are there, but they are buried under obtuse and fundamental problems, making it hard to enjoy. You will constantly find yourself trying to work around the game's faults, and downloading mods to help make up for its shortcomings.

If you ask me, Egosoft just don't get it. They just aren't good developers. They are writing games that they don't seem to understand, and are beyond their programming capabilities. I could write academic papers on everything that is wrong with the series. Once again though, I do like them, and I have sunk hundreds of hours into the series. There is a great game buried under all of those problems.

I can't seem to get into the game; it continuously screams potential yet easily goes down for it's overwhelming choices and controls, the characters and plot are barely something to write home about but I think it has more to do with the awful humanoid and/or alien models (To their credit, it does have it's charm) along with the mostly uninterested voicing for the randomly generated pilots. And that's not even mentioning several counter-intuitive measures for the sake of progress, along with a frustrating start at things with ways of developing your startup (unlike FL where there ARE things to do that display meaningful and progressive development)...

Almost feels like a Space Mount & Blade if you ask me.

In other news, I'm a bit perplexed with Procedurally Generation...I mean, on paper it sounds like something that's pretty cool under the whole "Close to limitless amounts of exploration and adventure" thing, but it sounds like it has an even bigger anti-potential on the count of having the Tech of one faction be criminally superior over the other on ships, research, prices, statistics, and even sheer numbers are something worth noting. Which would mean that THIS Procedurally Generated Universe has the bad guys with a huge edge over everyone else in the galaxy in EVERYTHING, while THAT PGU has a scale of so much never ending conflict (think 2 major factions in one system) that looking for a job within its grounds that don't involve becoming cannon fodder would be a nightmare. Also some of the easier worlds which are bound to exist in walkthroughs like "3029939" is considered the EASY MODO of the game (For the record, walkthroughs are built to make the game easier). I wonder if the game will also have a scrambled and even more random universe generation that really WILL be different and won't be found by sorting algorithms.

But I guess I'm missing the point in procedural generation...since balancing the fuck out of it would be an impractical nightmare to begin with. I mean, a guy or three overhauling Skyrim's Civil War is already starting to grow mad from bugfix after bugfix...but I'm guessing its still possible through the use of conditions or something...of course, that would again defeat the purpose of having one in the first place (Why would I want to generate another universe if its going to have the same types of ships and loadouts with just different looks anyway??).

Speaking of which,  Have you ever heard of Evochron Mercenary?? Its another open world space sim that's as compact as about under 400 MB.

Thank you. Even though I have next to no time these days, I really do love working on the Flower Trio. Drawing updates is just such a time consuming thing... But really, I value what people say about the characters more than anything art related. I really appreciate comments on the characters themselves.
