Haha, that's alright. My Korean is very minimal as I'm just learning it myself. I can read most letters and some words. I'm actually trying to study Japanese right now. My younger sister is learning Korean and is going to be taking it at York U this summer. So that's pretty much how I've learned what I know, tied in with all of the dramas, music and friends that I listen to lol What got you started in learning it?Β
I'm not really sure what con I want to go to next. I'm thinking about the small anime-expo that comes around in Toronto in November/December, but I've got to do a little bit more research on that one. I'm definitely going to be going to TCAF next year. I think that will be a good break into the bigger cons. I'm still a little too intimidated by Fan Expo and Anime North at this point. >_<
Aside from Atomic Lollipop (which, holy crap, isn't that super soon?) what other cons are you going to be going to?Β

I took lessons with the teacher from York U once. She was a nice person. Fun personality. I got into it back in early 2010 watching different vlogs about the cities there, I found them really interesting so I figured that when I visit these places for myself I should try and learn the language to be respectful. It's also really cool to learn another language that's very different from your heritage.
Which anime-expo is that one in November and December? I wouldn't mind checking it out.
I wouldn't be intimidated by AN if I were you. Your work is better than a lot of the people who magically get tables. It is very hard to break into though it seems.
I'm doing Apop next week and then after that I'm heading to Otakuthon but to be one of the guest bands there.Then the only other thing is Youmacon on Halloween. How about yourself?

That's so awesome! I got into Korean stuff through Japanese stuff. I've always had an interest in the culture and history of Japan, and with some prodding of my sister and a few friends that translated into Korean stuff as well. I totally get what you mean about learning another language that has no part of your heritage.
I honestly can't remember the name or the exact date of the con, but it's suppose to be like a mini version of fan expo and is sort of connected to it. Like, you have FanExpo which has all sci-fi, anime, gaming, comics, etc. all together in one place, but then there are smaller individual conventions that go on throughout the year for each individual event. I still have to figure out when it is. I heard about it from someone, now I just need to find the details. I'll pass that on to you once I find out!

I looked up that little con and I think it is just called "toronto anime con." You're right about it being hosted by the same people as fan expo. I shall have to keep my eye on this
