heya
umm
I just wanted to say I think your art is gorgeous and really inspires me to get back into more traditional stuff;; <3
And how you can make real meaningful comments on people's art and seeing their comments below and how happy they are;
It's something I really want to be able to do someday,, I hope to one day have as much confidence as you do;;
Sorry to bother you,, thank you for your time ^^

Oh! I'm glad to hear you're giving traditional art a chance, at least - it's becoming more and more rare to see artists nowadays to do some real traditional work, which is a shame in itself.
Also you're giving me way too much credit, because I'm not nearly as confident as you make it sound like. Talking to new people is kind of scary and anxiety-inducing for me more often than not. I just find it way too important to speak my mind when it comes to someone else's work and letting them know I enjoyed their stuff that I can usually ignore my anxiety.
And you are not bothering me at all! I wouldn't be here if I would be bothered by such nice people as you are ^^

Welp I mean,, I've always done traditional but I've definitely been neglecting it the past year vv;; I wish there was more of it too;;
Honestly,, that's even more admirable to me; you have those fears and feeling overwhelmed but your passion for art is so much stronger;;

It's never too late to start something!
(honestly I don't have it nearly as bad as some people, I rarely get too overwhelmed by my anxities)

Another question, are you open for commissions?
π: 0 β©: 1
Yamashita-akaDoragon In reply to StainedInColor [2019-10-27 15:25:20 +0000 UTC]
Technically not, I have never opened commission officially, but I can do them depending on my situation and the commission in question (complexity etc.)
I also have sort of commission prices that are not set in stone, but should give you an impression how much commissioning me probably costs:

Thanks! I sometimes feel that traditional art is over looked by digital art. I know that equal effort is put into them but still.

Hey dude! Just wanted to say thanks for all the comments and criticism! You gave me a LOT to reflect on and think about, and I really appreciate it! I don't think enough people realize how much more valuable that is than a simple "Looks great!" (Although those are nice too!)
I'm still learning and growing as both an artist and a writer, and just trying to find my own style that's not only fun for me to work on, but also enjoyable for others to look at! So thanks for helping me get closer to that goal!
Stay awesome! And best of luck on your own writing endeavors! You're doing great!

In your latest journal you said that you get most of your feedback from people who you know in real life. Now, I don't wanna make assumptions, but I think it is safe to guess that many (if any) of them are not really interested in differents art forms in media such as comics, movies or games and are critical about those. Not everyone is a critic, and you should not expect good feedback from everyone.
You also said that you're a self taught artist (as I am). I've never received good critic on my earliest years as an artist, but in the end I didn't need to because I've always been the most critical about my works. Specially nowadays. I always seek for ways to improve my art and more importantly, I draw. A lot. I've been drawing every single day for almost ten years now. Being an artist requires insane amount work and not everyone are up for it, but if you're willing to try and you got the motivation/inspiration, then you can reach greater heights. Just be critical, self-conscious and never stop drawing. That is the best advice I can give.

Hello. I used to be a big fan of your work back in 2013 and 2014, but for whatever reason, I left deviantart and the internet altogether one day. Recently, I've been brought back to this site because of many of your works still being in my memory (especially the ones that have dogs) so I decided to binge watch your entire galeries in two days.
And I am floored at how much you improved since I left, your style of this was already good, but Cody the Samurott has to be the most visually impressive things I ever saw done with watercolors, or even with drawing in general. I'm probably going to watch them again, more slowly this time, commenting and favoriting the ones I really like and probably repeat myself there. But, what I'm trying to say is: keep up the great work.

Hello and welcome back! I think I actually remember you, and I was wondering why you once just kinda...disappeared.
Please note one thing about favoriting my works: due to people doing that for so many different things such as collecting etc. I can't bring myself to appreciate you favoriting my art. If you want to show your appreciation, please do leave a comment
And I must apologize, but you saying that a character of mine being the most impressive watercolored thing you have seen just sounds so amusing to me.

I know it might seem a little cheesy, but a combination of factors just makes Cody so much more pleasant to the eyes: his colors, his face and body structure, his beard, snout, let's say it just works.

Hello! I really love your art! Would you possibly be interested in an art trade?
π: 0 β©: 1
Yamashita-akaDoragon In reply to LatteLady17 [2017-07-25 20:28:44 +0000 UTC]
Usually I do art trades with people I know, and even then I'm pretty strict about it (I've had some negative experiences about art trades in the past). Not saying that I won't, but please mind that I'm currently really busy with work and personal projects.

The link isn't working but I'm sure I know what video it is, I've seen it before. It bothers me a bit because iirc they didn't put a link back to my work and just credited me as a DeviantArt artist but meh, it's no big deal.

whoops, well here it is if you're still curious
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebPGSYβ¦
i don't think it's the one you have in mind because they don't actually credit you at all, but it's not a really big video anyway (just a music video with one of your pmd2 pics as background). crediting artists is something youtube still has to learnΒ

Yamashita-akaDoragon In reply to PitchBlackEspresso [2017-03-23 19:08:45 +0000 UTC]
Yeah this wasn't the one I was thinking but was using the same work. Funnily enough, I've redrew that thing two times so they both went with (imo) the worst version :'P
For some people such a concept as 1) ask permission from the artist 2) give artist proper credit for their art being used is just too hard to understand *shrug*

Hi! Β Not sure if we're still up for the trade but decided to let you know.
I'll have internet access a little after 6 PM (UTC time). Β I'll be around for an hour & a half before I need to catch the bus & do homework. Β
I'll be using my Moon version, my character's name is Indigo. Β
Thanks for reading!

Yeah I'll be around then! Thanks for letting me know, I'll do the preparations (transfer the Eevee to gen 7 and all) before that.
I'm also playing Moon, trainer's Ana with Team Skull tank, can't miss.

Well, good to know why you didn't appear. I waited you nearly two hours after all. Glad to hear you're okay as well.
If you still want the Eevee, we can also try something different: you can put a Yungoos or something like that to GTS asking for level 10-20 male Eevee. Name the PokΓ©mon something I can recognize/tell me about it and I will go, find it and trade my Eevee for it.
Oooor we can wait for another occasion when you have Wi-Fi access and try meet up again, your choice.
