I am 22, going to turn 23 later in the year. I don't currently go to college, but I had attended a university for a year to study how to make comics.
For now, I work full time at a retail store and am trying to generate an income so me and my boyfriend can move out of his parent's house and get married.
What are your interests?

Aw, are you engaged? ;w;
Lol, my interests are roleplaying on devart, drawing traditionally, anytime I get to go to my boyfriends house, anything that has to do with taking care of animals, Transformers, Invader Zim, OFF, and sleeping whenever I can.

Hey, Meg? Can I ask you something? You're still a big homestuck fan, right?
I need to ask...honestly...what do you see in it? When it first started out, I was kinda into it, but by now Hussie has killed off fan favorites, worlds and timelines SO many times, that big, cataclysmic events no longer have meaning. Death in his story, mass death, has become more cheap than ever before, and I just want him to go AWAY.
What keeps you going back to it? I would honestly like to understand.

Yeakuaf In reply to SaintHeartwing [2013-01-24 04:15:05 +0000 UTC]
Honestly, the fan favorites being killed off is not a huge deal to me. I did like the characters, but their death was not portrayed as tragic so it didn't have much of any shock value. Which is okay because there are DREAM BUBBLES. So the dead still can help the story along, but in a different way now.
As for worlds and timelines being destroyed, it was always hinted at something terrible was going on, but didn't say what exactly. Now we know. Lord English is firing his laser and killing ghosts. Which didn't exactly come out of nowhere.
All the things that are emotionally shocking to you, I suppose, I don't take that much to heart. My initial reaction is a bit shocked, yes. But immediately after that, I try to figure out what this means or what will happen as a result of this.
I like looking in at all the little hints and puzzles. Trying to determine the classes and aspects, what's up with trickster mode, character arcs, the little messages that probably weren't there on purpose, the things that are implied in the story or how SBURB is suppose to play out. It's fun.

Yeah, but Lord English just laid waste to all those dead characters from doomed timelines and the like so them being able to help is kind of ruined now, and the kids aren't really that much closer to stopping him and setting right what went wrong, and we are more than six acts in with no sign of an end close by.
It just gets really...frustrating. I'm the type who prefers people treating death with a lot more gravitas. We have enough violence in the world around us that we don't need popular culture trying to glorify it further. We need to take things more seriously and recognize that even if it is an indirect influence on us, things like online comics or games and movies DO still affect us and can do so in a very negative way without us realizing it.
And at some point, I feel the need to tell Hussie that he has to stop. The deaths of all those people feels like he keeps trying to one-up himself on terrible actions his villain can do. I mean, British, Jack Noir, they've killed HOW many people? Destroyed HOW many worlds and timelines? They've done it so often the gesture has lost ALL importance, and it should NEVER be that way for character death or deaths on SUCH a massive scale.

Yeakuaf In reply to SaintHeartwing [2013-01-24 05:26:10 +0000 UTC]
The dead being able to help is not ruined because Lord English didn't just go off and kill everyone. The dead are still trying to make plans to help the living and stop Lord English for good. Like if a huge dragon just came out and ravaged the land and everyone was trying to find a way to stop it. A lot of people will probably die, but people are trying to stop it. That's kind of. Like. Plot? Terrible things are happening so we're going to try and stop it? Because this was what Homestuck was leading up to all this time. Except this is a lot more hopeful than that dragon example because, I don't know if you've noticed, that the dead have like THREE WHOLE PLANS they're putting into effect to try and stop Lord English. They're even using his destruction to their advantage.
The kids actually know ways to stop him. They know what they're looking for, they just haven't found it yet. So I don't know what you're talking about when you say they have made no progress.
I understand what you mean with violence in media being treated with way less gravity than it deserves. And I really am disgusted with that. Just more and more senseless violence in movies that don't even need it.
But the thing you need to realize with Homestuck is that, it's not even glamorizing violence. How many fight scenes have we actually seen? A few, and most of them had little gore and were silly. The ones that were serious were intense because, whoa, major powers at play here (rose vs bec noir). So, homestuck isn't even focusing on the violence. How could they be glamorizing it?
As with the deaths, it's a game. In games, you have extra lives. And in this game, you even have an after life. People see their dead friends in their dreams to figure things out or just catch up with each other. It is a game. The reality is a game. Not like GTA or some other game where the scene of the game is the reality as if it were it's own other world. Homestuck is like, it being a game is part of its reality. Do you know what I mean? What with the sylladex, strifespecibus, extra lives. That stuff.
And I'm not sure if you've noticed, but Meenah or someone has been dropping hints that if the dead succeed in what they need to do, probably stopping Lord English, then they'll get another chance at living. Something along those lines.
Also, why are you complaining at me about all this stuff? You asked me why I liked Homestuck and I told you. Why do you think that invites you to tell me why you DON'T like it? You're not even talking about the things I like about it, so why did you ask? Was it just a weird formality for you to unload on me?

SaintHeartwing In reply to Yeakuaf [2013-01-24 13:59:40 +0000 UTC]
No, it wasn't an intentional unloading. It just happened. But I understand the point you're trying to make, my problem is that we've been at this for YEARS now, and the end's still nowhere in sight. Even the Nostalgia Critic made clear signs of when HIS world was changing in HIS videos. I haven't really seen anything that definitely says Hussie has a real ending prepared. It's more like he's got a bunch of ideas he's put out there and he's just playing the story out as he thinks it up to see which of those said ideas would best pan out into an ending he'd be satisfied with, is all. It just really bugs me.

Yeakuaf In reply to SaintHeartwing [2013-01-25 08:40:24 +0000 UTC]
Nope, he has an ending planned. I'm pretty sure he had it planned out since the beginning? Just all the silly things that are happening now are the things he's coming up with on the spot that he thinks will lead up to that ending. Like, a main plot he's been leading up to, which I think he's back on again, with side plots of flavor.
And I do think it has changed over time. In the beginning, it just seemed like some kids were going to play a game. But then, oh no, we find out the fate of the world is in the balance. Whoops, we're not saving the world, we're saving something much bigger, all of existence (also note the various Never Ending Story references). But why is existence in danger? Is it Jack Noir? No, someone more powerful, Lord English. But who is Lord English? Pretty sure it's Caliborn. What's that all about? I guess we're gonna find out.

SaintHeartwing In reply to Yeakuaf [2013-01-25 13:12:31 +0000 UTC]
I hope you're right. But I'd like him to lead up to it without, y'know, killing everyone again for the eighteenth time. It isn't even funny anymore. I mean, the kid chucking his own dead body out the window? That's about as funny as it's gonna get, and I ADMIT, that was pretty "meta" and funny, but...I should never feel PASSIVE about any kind of death in a story. That's just the way I feel. Because it means I've become so desensitized to the violence within that I just don't care if the people in the story live or die.

Yeakuaf In reply to SaintHeartwing [2013-01-26 05:05:15 +0000 UTC]
I don't think that not caring about their deaths so much means you're being desensitized to the violence. Because, most of the deaths are deaths that the reader doesn't even experience. They happened in other timelines outside of the story. So, that makes up the majority of the ghosts.
None of the main characters have even died in a while. The last death of a character we were following I think was Calliope. And that is a pretty sad thing because now Caliborn is in charge of the body and the characters are trying to find a way to get Calliope back.
Before that, I don't think anyone died since Cascade? Poor carapaces.
But like, since the first death of a main character, it was pretty intense. But the character's story wasn't over yet, so it didn't have a dramatic finality to it. The characters were still developing after they died. And they still have a chance at coming back to life, I think. So that is probably why it wasn't so dramatic, because we still see them and it's just another phase of their existence.
But when Lord English started killing ghosts, that was pretty bad.

Yeah. Pretty bad.
I've always had a problem with taking every death, every injustice that the nicest of characters in a story personally. I know it's extreme to do that, I just can't turn it off.

Rather funny story, that.

What a way to start the rest of this year.

Okay. Five things about me:
1. If I was stranded on an island with a limited supply of water, all the other survivors would hate me.
2. My favorite color is purple.
3. I have a tendency to suddenly like something and then like it forever (bunnies, foxes, squids...)
4. There's a cat on my lap.
5. I am uncomfortable around sharp objects.
Additional questions:
1. I've been to Mexico for a few hours and walked around for a bit.
2. I don't know. I don't actually read comics much or at all.
3. Dr. Doof isn't actually very witty, is he?
4. What is Black*Star?
5. I do not personally own that many. The majority of the video games we have are owned by my brother, but I do play them a lot. I am unsure, but I also don't have them with me right now...
6. Absolutely nothing.
7. I think it's been 4 years? Almost 5.
8. I don't actually tend to draw individual characters. Except sometimes. They are just either visually pleasing or interesting.
9. pokeopekpeokepokepokeopeirslekjt;lsrayj;lsd
10. I would see what's up. Be socially awkward as usual and just kind of stand around.
