"Oh hello there. Want to play with me and my friends?" A blonde girl waves at you while smiling. " We're pretty lonely... Every time someone visits us here, they always want to get out. I wonder why?"
"I miss Ib and, well, Garry... And Daddy never came back to us... I may not be able to leave, but at least I have you to be with me!" She looks up at you expectantly, twirling a palette knife stained with crimson in her hand. "... Right?"
A B O U T M A R Y
Mary (Japanese メリー, Merii) is a young girl who Ib and Garry find on their way getting out of the gallery. Thought at first to be a live person from the gallery, Ib and Garry allowed her to join their party. Later in the game, Garry discovers that Mary is not truly a person, but a painting come to life by Guertena. At one point, she can be seen stabbing a mannequin head with a palette knife found in a room full of boxes. Ib and Garry abandon her as soon as they are reunited.
Mary has a very childish personality. She goes on about her favorite colors (red, blue, and pink) as Garry tries to warn her to stay safe. And she is also seen to be selfish, taking the candy that was meant for Ib in a certain ending. She repeats things (like her own name) and seems strangely excited about simple things, hinting that she isn't quite familiar with human norms before it is revealed that she is a painting. She can become quite violent when opposed, such as when she drops her yellow rose and Garry picks it up, and she orders him to not to touch it while brandishing a knife. This violent anger significantly arises in defense against her identity as a painting. In a certain ending, she can be destroyed if her painting is burned. After burning Mary's portrait, her sketchbook is open, revealing her true intentions. It is soon discovered that Mary had craved to leave the disoriented gallery, but in order to do so, "two people from the normal gallery must come and only one can get out". Mary then decides to target Garry in order to escape with Ib.
Mary's rose is yellow, symbolic for "Joy", "Jealously" and "Friendship" in the Victorian language of flowers.
"That ending with all three of us smiling together... There's no such thing, is there?"

Holding her pink rose in her hand, Emma walked alone in the Fabricated World, trying to find a way out. 'Man...this place is a maze...,' she thought as she glanced at her surroundings. Suddenly, she stopped in mid-step once she saw a young girl in front of her as she held a yellow rose in her hand. She gradually walked toward her, not wanting to startle her, and greeted her with a simple hello.

"Aww, that's no fun. You tripped. Oh well~!" Mary smiled brightly and knelt over to Garry with her palette knife pointed near his head. "Hey, Garry, if you stay away from Ib, I won't have to use this~"

Exploring and adventuring as he usually does, the shrunken hero was walking across the grass, not knowing what he'll encounter next. After all, being so small, there was a huge world around him. What he encountered next was a wall with a small hole he could fit in. Curious, he went throught it. He found himself inside a strange place. He wondered where he was. So he explored the place for a while until he encountered a shoe. He then lookedup to see her standing in full height above him. He could tell she was not aware that he was there

Mary was staring hard at the painting in front of her, trying her best to make sense out of the painting. Marvelous Night seemed like a simple painting enough to use as a reference and practice for drawing, but even though that was the case, she found herself having a hard time with trying to make her drawing look similar to Guertena's art. She sighed and tried scribbling on the paper again, completely unaware of the little boy by her shoe.

Mary sighed as she drew on her sketchbook, a bored expression on her face. She looked over her finished piece of art before glaring at it and throwing it away. Disheartened, she slumped on the wall and frowned. "I miss Daddy..." she whispered to herself as she hid her face with her arms.
