# About me

Born in 1949, a 'baby boomer', I spent my formative years, eleventeen thro' to nineteen, growing up in the 60's. Significantly marred by the Vietnam War, it was a period of great change.
Also a period of sadness, first with the loss of Norma Jean, then JFK, the first of the 'I remember what I was doing when' events. 1968 saw the tragic loss of Bobby and Martin, but 1969 saw Neil Armstrong step out from Apollo 11 to become the first man on the moon ... wow!
Musically I enjoyed Motown, The Beach Boys and the Beatles, my personal favourite track, 'In my Life'. For me it was John not Paul, had it not been for the madness of Mr. Chapman, imagine? Flower Power reached its height in '67 with the Summer of Love and '69 saw a 'magical' 3 days in August at Woodstock. Although headlined by Jimi Hendrix, our own Joe Cocker made a triumphal appearance. Sadly by the end of that year, Janis Joplin, Brain Jones and Hendrix had all died from drug overdoses.
For me, an artisan at heart, my first love was, and still is, wood but I went the way of metal for the next forty odd years as a professional engineer. Married for 41yrs, we have a son of 39yrs and a daughter of 36yrs. Retired now, I have enjoyed pencil sketching as a pastime since before the 'kids' were born, although fair to say, more draughtsman like than artistic as I can only copy from images. But hey it gives me pleasure, I hope it does you ...

Also take a look at www.chris-greenwood.co.uk or Sketches by Chris, Facebook if you like what you see get in touch.
Most of the original A4 pencil sketches are available for sale, but I also take commissions ... all I need is a decent image from you.

Current Residence: East Yorkshire, England
Favourite photographer: From the 60's, Bailey, Lichfield, Terry O'neill, today Annie Leibovitz
Favourite style of art: Realism (portraits), Pop Art
Personal Quote: If you look for the bad in people expecting to find it, you surely will ... Abe Lincoln.

Hey, thanks for the 2 favs!
Quite impressive gallery you have !
I think your best one is Sugar Ray Leonard (though I have no idea who that guy is). The expression and shading are specially well done. I like your Paul Newman too, and some of the toddlers!

Welcome to dA! I took the time to read your DevID and I always find it nice to see people who use that space for a small little Bio of themselves! It's more interesting than what others place in that area. You're short, sweet and to the point of where you came from and how you got to where you are.

Your sketching is very good too! They look like you took them from a real picture, and that has always interested me! I came from a huge artistic background and a lot of what you do, really reminds me of what my great great great grandfather did. He worked with a lot of paints.

Mind of I watch you? I'd really like to keep a look out on your sketches!
