Iasi, I havent been there during my trip(maybe Ill stop by this summer) What is the school that you go there? It sounds like a pretty loaded/inspiring place... (Come to US yre gonna miss those kommunist gates)
I definately do understand you about the opportunities though.. What do you want to do when you get out of school? Cuz, for freelance illustration/design you can be whereever you want in the world and still have the same chance of getting jobs.. (+also making the money in US and spending it in our part of the world is a pretty good deal..) And youll be helping your countrys development.. That is kinda what Im planning to do..
I wanted to go to MICA from the beginning and when I received the most scholarship from mica i didnt really need to chose... Its funny cuz my second choice was Chicago and they gave the second highest...
MICA is probably better in painting and illustration, some of the other departments are kinda weak though.. its a small school, 1500 (and were complaining-it was 1000 when we came) so it doesnt have some of the resources that other schools do; but it is enough for most stuff...
You are very good so I dont think youll have a problem getting about $10/15 000(or the usual highest).. MICA however gives a $35000 scholarship to one international student every four years, the next one is going to be given during the application period after this one(2007?).. I am pretty sure that u can get it, however you need to apply as a freshman and I figure you wont want to waste 4more years in school...

i wanna get back and do something for this country. i want help those like me, i hope they wont live the same stuff i don, worring about not having a job after graduating! and much more than that. i don't wanna invest just in myself, u know...

Yeah, If you want change -unless you want the USA to come in and attempt at doing it- you gotta do your part.. actually you gotta do a lot more than that..
[sidetracking from the conversation: and you need to find those, who with no personal expectations are willing to live and 'fight*' feeling the 'cause*' in their hearts.. even when we become the grimy old [wo]men smelling of whiskey and cigarettes, and face that one insignificant choice, we should make that one insignificant sacrifice... and that will change everything.. everything! -sorry I kinda sidetracked, feeling a little sore (I actually had a rather horrible day, especially concerning the excitement of wanting to do things.. I was let down -3hrs ago- by two of my most trusted 'teammates', on their cause of personal gain- I understand.. and that sucks more...)
Anyway, lets get to the fun stuff
OK, there are two international student scholarships in MICA.. First one is the C.V.Starr scholarship, it is given to 10 students and ranges from $5.000 to $12.000 per year (it may have increased w/ the increase in tuition this year)
That is given every year... Then, there is the David Jacobs scholarship.. Have u ever seen that old, cheezy, american show 'Dallas'? David Jacobs is the guy that created that.. Anyway, that is the $35.000 one.. The catch is that it is given every 4 years.. so it is uncle David supporting one student at a time.. in 2007, its gonna be given again
[btw you can get the DJacob and CVStarr at the same time.. the school will actually end up paying u money]
Then there are departmental scholarships that you can apply after the 2nd year. I think(not sure) that all deparments are giving out one $8.000 one 5000 and one 3000 every year...
on top of these, there are random other scholarships and competitions where u can gather money from... Most of them are not for international-freshman though, but give it a shot; sometimes they dont check and give it anyway
Ill be going around europe wth Interrail this summer- I gotta check wth my friends but I think Ill be able pursue them to come
Where should we go when we are in Romania?(Im trying to put together the travel plan as early as possible)
