Your webcomic or comic (for me) is one of the best ever made using the CGI, characters, scenes, and above all the story is really good.

I've a question for you, if you don't mind answering it-
-how do you effectively pace your comics? I realize that's a very wide and sweeping prompt that doesn't exactly have an easy answer, but I wouldn't be asking if it did.
I'm asking because I recently started a really short, hand-drawn series of my own, and despite the fact that I've decided to make it entirely dialogue free I feel like it's... like there's something off with it. Whether the panes are moving the scenes along much too fast, or the perspective is jumping around without enough focus, y'know.
Granted, I am sort of putting it together as I go right now, but that's kinda what I'd like to fix by asking this XD
One reason I've always liked your comics is because they seem to be paced in a manner that emphasizes tension well, and... well, I'm just curious as to what sorts of "techniques", whether they be formal or informal you tend to apply to different scenarios to keep that deliberate pace.
Like, how you might visualize everything beforehand, get the perspective and angle on each image right to make sure not a single one is wasted and what might be more appropriate in different situations.
Thanks for the watch by the way!

I really had to think about this question and had a helluva time answering it, sorry it took so long to reply and thank you for asking!
Most of my scenes on each page are short, but I feel they have a slow build, and the things I concentrate the most on is the body language and the facial expressions, which in my opinion carry all the tension. The dialog is short and to the point, and the faces do the rest of the work. It's all deliberately slow and cinematic, in my mind, and that's how I picture the story, like a movie. That might not really explain how I pace my story, but that's the best answer I can give. I feel like I want readers to be able to pick up some of Bigs' or Mack's personality by including odd awkward moments of silence, or an angry glare, or an eye-roll. I think that stuff speaks volumes and is very effective. So yeah, slow and steady is how I roll.
I kinda do a story board, but it's more like a script with details on the facial expressions. I'll visualize each panel in my head, thinking about which poses I'll use, and pencil those in as notes. When I actually get into the game, I'll set everyone up for a panel, make adjustments, and then fly the camera all around them and find what looks the most visually pleasing. I also have to take into account leaving room for thought-boxes and dialog bubbles. So yeah, when you talk about making making sure nothing is wasted, you aren't kidding LOL!
I think that you have an added challenge with a silent comic, because that means you are relying purely on body language, action, and emotion to carry the story along. I think that if I were doing a silent story, the pace would be more deliberate. I'm going to agree with you that it's possible your pace is moving too quickly on page one, but then you find a good pace (in my opinion) through pages 2 - 4.
I hope that helps some, and please feel free to keep the conversation going, I might just be a little slow to reply due to work and family and stuff!

Yeah, I think the mistake I made was deciding that this was gonna be a pure action scene one-off, kind of as a break from the melancholy and melodrama from the actual written thing lol
I'm thinking for thematic purposes I'm going to break the silence at the very very end when once specific character's finally introduced, just with a single word- I wanted to make the whole comic silent and not even put in simple sound effects for action just to... try and get across almost a sort of underlying bleakness to everything despite the fact that this fully armored protagonist who has no facial expression is casually blowing through some shambly spooky skeletons.
Which is probably why I'm thinking everything feels so meh right now, since the action itself is kinda inconsequential on its own. And the 'bleakness' doesn't really manifest itself too well when I'm doing action shot angles all over the place LOL
I guess the action itself was meant to come off as a lot more routine than anything, emotionless and seemingly void of consequence as per the perspective I'm using.
Maybe if I'd instead began in the long, dark walk leading up to the bombastic action I would had some time to play off the atmosphere more and take some environmental cues here and there, but unfortunately on reflection I think I really did just start this with the intention of making some inconsequential action prologue shiz - and then there's this natural guilt manifesting about not cramming enough trippy hallucinatory images in because the protagonist is unfortunately still pretty sure of himself at this point...
Maybe I should try switching the perspective to focus more of the very temporary antagonist? Seeing how he does have the benefit of facial expression and most importantly those organic eyes... And then present the action through short glancing shots rather than glorified and panned out pages? And then slowly play off of their growing anxiety, developing it from minor irritation to full blown panic once he had to face this armored behemoth by himself?
Yeah, I have noticed that the majority of what you've been dealing with is a lot of subtle... Not action scene stuff ai guess, and the bits of action there are are carried out by decidedly normal people so I guess a lot of the specifics are more difficult for me to consider.
Though I would like to hear your thoughts on why the pace felt alright from 2 onwards but not so much the first? First one I can understand pretty easily that it begins quite suddenly, perspective shifts really quickly and there's this closing, weird shot of one of those more hallucinatory images-
But what'd you think was better about the next couple? Perhaps since I found a sort of focus on this conflict between humanity and its ever existent fear of spooky scary skeletons and began to set up a sort of standoff in 2 and 3? A little more focus on the rich facial expressions of... Err... a static helmet faceplate and a buncha skulls? lol
But thanks for replying at all to begin with, I dunno if I'll keep chugging along as I do for the time being or maybe distance myself from this for a bit... In the end I prolly won't take drastic action like redo the first several pages or add a buncha 'walking' bits in though, since this was SUPPOSED to be a more casual experiment rather than something to fuss over. I guess some things will never change though.

Ah, it's fine. I ended up moving onto a new, err... more traditional comic anyways, separate from the first one and with a far more ambitious scope. So a lotta the stuff I asked before might be kinda irrelevant now anyways
