# About me

Hello, folks! I am fantasy and faery artist, TanDoll.

I use a technique that the majority of people inquire about, yet none have the patience to learn. I developed this technique in high school art class in 1998, because I love working with colored pencil but disliked the wax build-up ("bloom") a colored pencil drawing would have after a few days, weeks, or months of sitting. I wondered if oil pastel, my other favorite medium at the time, would counter this wax build up if I treated it as a base coat on the paper’s surface and applied colored pencil on top of it. To my surprise, it did! My technique has been perfected since then, and I am always on a mission to make it even better. I have drawings from 10 years ago that have never had any wax film build up on their surfaces. Much time goes into each of my creations due to this technique, but it is my favorite and I personally focus on quality rather than quantity. I find it relaxing and fulfilling to finish a piece in this technique; if you are interested in learning how to work in it, let me know…I am always looking for someone to take me up on the challenge.

When I was young, I couldn't stop drawing...through support of my family's encouragement, I continued to draw and took art lessons in and out of school. I also have studied printmaking at the local university but I have developed and am self-taught in the medium I use most, colored pencil and oil pastel. This technique is specific to me; even professors at school had me teach classes and show demos of my medium because it was so unique and unlike anything they had ever seen before. I pride myself in this fact, and I am willing to help anyone who wants to learn it for themselves. Many (even small, under 8"x10") pieces take up to 100 hours to create, so it is very labor-intensive and takes much patience for strict detail. Still, it is my favorite and what I love to create with.

I understand that my artwork is quite a bit cartoony...but, I always wanted to be an animator, and do believe that is why I draw in this fashion. I enjoy creating kitsch art, and I hope you enjoy viewing what I create!

I don't get to draw as often as I once did...now a mother of two youngsters, I still try to squeeze in a few minutes of art time every day. Keep an eye out for new artworks and prints!

Have you ever had a dream, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?

What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire deviant life, that there's something wrong with the story. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.

You take the blue pill, the story ends. Your browser closes and you believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in wonderland. And, I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

I offer only the truth, nothing more.

Take: The Red Pill
Take: The Blue Pill

spyed, nobody has ever done this before.
I know. That's why it's going to work.
