Haha, I am indeed a girl. And thanks! I try to be convincing, so I'm glad I manage to pull that off, especially with Sweden since he's my favorite (he also happens to be my first cosplay, so he's extra special to me). Do you have anything specific you'd like advice on?

Thank you for not minding. And yes, you are very convincing. As for the specific thing I need advice on, I'm not sure where to begin. I just ordered my cosplay yesterday, but for the last week I've been trying to submerge myself in all things Swedish. I even went to Ikea for the first time- and I thought it was incredible. However, I'm not entirely sure I'm getting his personality right. How do you go about getting into character? Oh, and this is different, but where did you get your wig? And how do you go about making yourself look so much like a guy. I know you pad your shoulders (I saw the video of outtakes where you took them out), but what else do you do? Again, you were so convincing I really had a hard time believing you were a girl. Oh, what do you use for binding? You looked completely flat and I was wondering because I still don't know what I'll be using. I'm going to end this now because this is already a lot of text and a lot of questions, though there's probably something else I'm missing. Oh, this is completely unrelated, but I saw that you were trying to get to Otakon (at least I believe). I'm probably going and I'm wondering if I'll see you there.

I am indeed going to Otakon, and it's very likely you'll see me, if you go to the hetalia-related thingies. If not as Sweden, then as Austria/rave!austria, Poland, Lithuania, or England, in order of decreasing likelihood.

I've never had the pleasure of living anywhere there was an IKEA, so I've never been. I have been listening to Swedish deathmetal for years pre-dating my knowledge of hetalia, so maybe that's part of it...

1. Getting into character - I RP Berwald online and this helps me with mindset since I spend a lot of time in his head. He's also fairly similar to me in terms of personality, so it's not as much of a stretch as some other characters would be for me. I kind of gradually mentally get into character while putting on the cosplay. The hat goes on last and by then, the transformation is complete. I try to talk as little as possible when cosplaying Sweden. Total nonverbal awkward communication is a good thing to strive for. No smiling. Be intimidating.

2. I got it from Amphigory.com although they're slow to ship, so I'd only order from them if you are in absolutely no hurry.

3. I pad my shoulders, and I use a bit of makeup contouring to enhance the masculinity of my features...usually. I didn't do either of these things in my most recent video because I was in a hurry. I also work out a lot. People say I walk like a man, too, but the key to that is essentially knowing that you are the toughest SOB in the room and have no fear of the possibility of needing to prove this (whether this is actually true or not doesn't matter. Swagger is swagger is swagger).

4. I'm pretty flat, anyway, but I use a "tri-top" compression vest from underworks. It's a bit weird the first time or two, but once you're used to it, as long as you have the right size, you won't even notice it.

Awesome! I can't wait to (hopefully) see you. I hope you are Sweden because that would just be fun. I wonder how long a conversation could last between two Swedens.

I'd like to try some Swedish death metal, but I don't know the names of any bands.

1. This is actually very helpful. I think the hardest part is going to be not smiling and being intimidating. I'm only 5'2" and I my personality tends to lean toward America's (I hate setting the stereotypes true). I'll try as hard as I can, though.

2. I think I've actually seen the exact wig you got. If I remember correctly, though, they no longer sell it in blond. I think I'll be ok with my hair anyway. Especially if I'm wearing the hat the entire time.

3.I might just have to look into the padding idea. I'll look up more about the makeup contouring. As for getting the swagger of the toughest SOB in the room, I'll just have to build up to it.

4.I just went on underworks's website and found th estuff you're talking about. Looks perfect.

Heya! Actually my trip wasn't necessarily unpleasant, but my flights kept getting delayed, and I didn't make it home until about 4:30am...which gave me about enough time to shower and eat breakfast before I had to leave for work, heh. Next time I'll probably just take the morning after off, too, to prevent this kinda thing.
