It should have been everything a girl wanted. A girl that was into spies and perils of life and death, dancing with the death itself on some occasions, to be admitted to an academy of this prestige and importance for their field of work or passion. Of course most of the stories that were turned into movies were just a glorified months of work and just putting one person in front of the whole story rather than include the whole team which only added to the unrealistic picture of how luxurious and adventurous was a life of a spy. Of course Jelena knew the other side of the medal behind the glittering jewelry, fancy suits and expensive cars and gadgets. Having been born in a family of spies it wasn't unusual to see that her interested swayed the same direction to that of profession of her parents at a very early age. Naturally having a family while having a stressing job and name on black lists of number of major players behind the shadows life was no where but idilic and normal, it consisted more of learning foreign languages and new names, constant moving from town to town, state to state, country to country that at times it reached moving to an entire different continent. But she was used to it all, she knew it was for their own well being and for their heads to still be on their shoulders. In all, she didn't complain or dislike her childhood. She still managed to live most of it like any regular child would and attended school like a perfectly normal kid, friends were there too, many lost but the true loyal ones stayed due to the connections she maintained and it payed in the long run.
Finally, the day came when her acceptance letter arrived at their home address even before they had moved in. Of course the high staff would know how to contact them without leaving any clues or traces. See, the academy that she applied to was only enabled to children of the parents that had attended the said academy in the first place. Scores from elementary and high school hadn't matter if parents wrote a letter of recommendation and sent it to the high staff, with consent of a child. Downside was that the letter was sent when the child was young, around ages of 5 or 6 but there were aso cases as early as 2, so with such decision was a risk taker. From the moment the letter was delivered would the elite order made especially from academy's finest observe and note done was the child a material worthy of even attending academy. Once letter came, your future was sealed and from that point on you were going to be dedicating your life to serving and protecting the integrity of the academy before graduation and making a name for yourself. Trick was that, this academy moved each year to keep it a secret from outside threats. And you'll be assigned a partner you couldn't part with until graduation and your final exam. You were stuck with however you got and that was it, whether you got along or not, you were stuck till both graduated.
Trip to there was tiresome and the heat circling around the old bus she rode on was bordering on unbearable. Sleeping obese woman next to her wasn't helping but pressing her exposed fat against her own waist making the shirt drenched with sweat and overall making it disgusting. Her stop came after an hour later and before the station there were a forest on one side and a log cabin on the other. Picking her suitcases and making her way into the woods, crunching the branches underneath her feet and moving branches to get through the dense vegetation. Half an hour walk and she was back at the pebble road, leading to a cleaning where the academy proudly stood. It appeared to be like a grand castle in a fairy tale setting, waiting for it's attenders to arrive. Sure enough, few more emerged from the other sides of the road and out of vegetation before small groups made their way to the academy. Of course grand entrance to an even grand country yard the academy was bigger than it appeared from outside and it was an amazing illusion. Setting their bags on certain highlighted areas, everyone was examined for any weaponry and for any sort of bugs that could have been planted by people on the black list. After that welcome, the newbies were given a brochure of the academy and it's parts, history and other useful info.
Then all were directed to the name board where everybody got their partner assigned. Most have never met fact to face or ever heard of one another so it was a fair game for almost everyone. Finding her own name was pretty easy, but the name of her partner didn't faze her that much. 'Maria Inés Núñez Delmara ' it read, and she probably misread the last three parts. The name itself didn't bring her initial joy she expected as the name seemed to have something Spanish related and having been prone to make judgement based on stereotypes it didn't please her to be a partner to someone that could have mood swings and quite infamous rages. ' Hope that the last name isn't some sort of inuendo for drama ' But on other hand those people were cheerful and overall nice enough for you to develop some sort of soft spot for them so in the end she concluded it maybe wouldn't be as bad she she initially thinks. After this all newcomers were shown to the grand hall, seated in order as they were listed on the partner assignment list, each seat having a little card with their name on it. Sitting down, she waited for her partner to arrive and for the welcoming ceremony to commence.
