Little about me: I crochet. I am self-taught and always feel like a beginner but keep on trying to be better. I love making amigurami dolls and have most recently ventured into big projects like blankets and even *gulp* clothing!Β

March 2016 Contest!Hello everyone! Are you having a good year so far?
Things have been great for us here at dAKnitters, and we totally have St. Patrick's Day along with the Spring season in mind. Which brings us to our theme for this contest:
OVER THE RAINBOW!

Unlike the previous contest, this theme actually does have a catch to it - a bit of a challenge, if you will. What's the challenge? The entry, no matter what it is, has to have at least three different colours in it. It can be from three completely different colours, or different shades of one colour (i.e. If you still have red left over from February, you can submit something that's red, pink, and purple. 
Now, here are the rules:
- Entries can be of anything you would otherwise be able to submit to the group. The bottom line: have it be fiber art. That includes knitting, crochet, felting, and creations made using fibers.
- Limit 3 entries per person. We know you all create things 24/7, so we cannot accep

That's fantastic. I don't usually photograph what I create but maybe I should start to. I have a few things that meet the criteria that I just finished off in the last week. I'll get photographing them over the weekend and send them in for the contest.

You can submit items made using knit, crochet, or other fiber manipulating techniques (including felting). Yes, you can have a link in the deviation to your shop/storefront if the item is up for sale.

People, I need help! Since I learned knitting and crochet by myself, there still are a lot of things I don't really know how to make them. I'm doing a blanket in knitting and want to cross stitch the picture on it. Now, I know how you finish the loose ends of yarn in cross stitch, but since we're talking about blankets here, do I just hide the loose ends behind the stitch? Isn't it dangerous, like, with time won't it loose itself when washing, etc?

To avoid loose stitching, double back at the ends of your stitching as you would on a sewing machine. You can also add a lightweight backing to the blanket for added comfort from the bare stitching itself. Also, when it comes to washing handmade items, it is suggested to wash it either by hand, or on a delicate cycle on the washing machine, and drying it in the air, or on a low-tumble dry setting.

Hello, everyone! First of all I have to apologize for my looooooooong absense from DA. Stuff happened in my life so I had to make choises and give attention to the priorities. I am now on my way to finish university! One more year and I'm done! \w/ I also have more time (waaaay more time) to knit... and crochet! I now crochet as well. :3 There are a couple of things I have in hands, projects I hope you cuties like as soon as I post some pictures. Once again, I am very sorry for not being here for so long.
