Hey, yeah you're welcome with the watch. I dunno if she told you, but I actually found you through Erica; she told me a friend of hers also had a deviantart account, so...okay. Well, your gallery is great! Even if it's not the kind of art I usually watch, it'll be good to mix it up a bit.

Oh, by the way tell me about the first week of school, it's a complete utter fumbling mess for me. Didn't have internet access for a week also, and even now, I'm only on the net every other day if that.

You are right about the AutoCad thing, I think I may register for a Cad class next semester for the experience.
I graduate from my undergrad in '08 like you, and I have yet to decide on where I'm going for my grad program, I just know it won't be at my current school. I've been trying to keep my GPA at least above a 3.6 and have been working on several side projects (exhibiting my drawings in galleries, entering design competitions, etc) to put together a decent portfolio to help me get into a better school than my current one. Moving up north is probably what i'll end up doing. Are you going to grad school by the way? If so, will you get it at A&M?
As for the work on our site, the first years delve heavily in sculpture, and from 2nd year on, it's mostly building and site design. You're so lucky to be able to interact with an actual client, I eagerly await that oppurtunity. We are going to be visiting construction sites in the very near future though, sometime in February I believe.
My definition of architecture....that is a very good, and hard to answer question. Architecture, in a more broad sense, is any space that is made to serve a purpose. And I believe that the functionality and beautification of that space is the most vital part of a design.
I have a question for you. When you got out into the field, will your focus be more on designing for humanitarian reasons, or designing to make a living or name for yourself. I would also like to hear how you define architecture. Also, what programs outside of CAD and Photoshop do you use. I find 3d Max, and Sketch Up to be very helpful in digital representation.

I agree with you on Kahn, I don't generally like his stuff. But the library and this building: [link] [link] are two of his works I do appreciate.
At my school, we do not have an AutoCad class, or a SketchUp or Photoshop class for that matter. We are to learn these programs mostly on our own through experience. (Which I prefer, because I'm pretty sure the classes would be a bore, what with the constant slowing down for people who aren't already familiar with the program.) Is it the same way over at A&M. Here's a link to our Architecture and Design page [link] What year are you, and where are you going for your Masters degree?

Your work is fantastic, and I'm looking forward to seeing some more of it in the future.
Oh, and I'm relatively new to photography; I was wondering if you could possibly give me a few pointers if given the chance? I'm trying to learn as much as possible, so it would be greatly appreciated!
