Hmm.. well, I know that Sollux is canonlly both dreamers, and so I don't see why fan characters, or even real people can't be both. If you honestly feel like you identify with both Dream states, then I believe that you should have all right to use both, since you are both. If you had to choose one or the other you would feel like you were lying to yourself, right?
