# About me
Hi! I have over fifteen years of experience as a professional commercial artist in the advertising field, and five years as an instructor of graphics and digital illustration at pratt institute, westchester community college, marymount manhattan and skidmore cci. I specializes in art nouveau influenced poster design, adverisements, package design and bookcovers.I am a traditionally trained artist - graduate of pratt institute, summa cum laude (presidents award for academic excellence). A traditional background in art focuses on skills such as drawing and painting as well as perspective and color theory. This allows me to translate the client's concept into whatever media best suits the job - therefore I am a very versatile artist, who is not limited by any one medium.

Out of curiosity, why use Illustrator? Why not stick with Photoshop for the entire thing? Doesn't PS have much of the same tools as well?

Sorry for the late reply. Illustrator is a dedicated Vector program with many many many more vector tools available. Photoshop is great - but can't do what I need it to do with vectors.

I start with a sketch, and then do a model shoot or collect reference. Then I do a drawing in graphite on vellum. From there, I scan it in and then paint in Photoshop and sometimes create elements in Illustrator and merged them in Photoshop. If I want special textures, I might find or create my own and scan them in to include in Photoshop. In my personal work, I will print out the piece as a Giclee onto canvas or art paper and then paint, varnish, and gild, on top of it.

awesome work... stumbled upon it because a friend of mine told me about kickstarter.com, and the first thing on the art category was your raven project... don't really understand kickstarter, but I'll read into it.

Kickstarter is a fund-raising program for artists, musicians, inventors, and others. We post projects that we want to do and ask for funds. Backers contribute and receive thanks and often items as rewards. It's like the PBS pledge drive. For instance, someone who backs my project for $40 receives an archival print of Raven. For $90, they receive a larger and higher quality print. Etc.
We ask for a minimum funding goal to complete our project. If backers don't meet or exceed that goal, then we don't receive any money at all and the backers don't get charged. To accomplish this, backers only get charged after the time of the fund-raiser expires. My Raven expires on February 15.
I've found a lot of people think Kickstarter is addictive because of the rare and one of a kind projects listed there.

and thanks so much on the info on kickstarter. I looked through several ideas, and I think that it really is a great platform. Too bad it is only for US citizens and Canada, and not for Europe. I think I have to search to find something similar here in Germany!
