Yep! Been on DA for years, though for a few years (after the scandal where they kicked the founder Jark off, even though he was co-founder), the art and esp. the formerly thriving writing community started to really suck. So I haven't really been posting. And then bring in college and love life troubles (and life in general), and I'm not even sure I'm creative anymore! Heh!

Yeah, reality has a way of knocking you around and on the ground, but it can be a good thing some times. Having some reality issues myself, but enjoying it.
I started a new job and after a month they gave me a promotion and a week off...lol, so God gets the kudos and I will rest my body for a while! Other than that, just life stuff, but doing good.

It's a daito. And I know, it's made for someone taller than I am. It's just part of my collection for fun.
Practically, I prefer sai, a staff, a spear, tai chi sword, or a three-sectional staff, especially when I'm teaching kung fu - those are my favourites to teach.

A photoshoot suggestion with you as the model: swing era musician. A fedora hat (I love fedora hats--if you go to a hat store today, specify the one that looks like the one worn in Indiana Jones...), swing era suits with cuffs, pinstripes, etc. Now here's the thing: pose with musical instruments: trumpet, saxaphone,etc. I suggest looking through old photos of jazz musicians to get ideas for poses, expressions, clothes, how to hold the instrument. This might do well in black and white too.
Expanding futher on the idea: you might try the zoot suit look. And possibly the Frank Sinatra, white shirt open at the neck with the tie draped as a theme.

Funny that you should mention it. It's one of my favourite eras, and I already do have a swing dress, a zoot suit-type coat, and a large collection of hats.
