Thanks! One of these days I'll have to actually TRY to put together a tutorial. I love to look at them, but in reality, trying to recreate someone elses technique seems harder than just coming up with your own.

Thank you. I find it quite easy to work with actually...give me oils though and I'm lost! I think the difference for me lies in the fact that watercolor dries so quickly and you can layer things just as you like it from transparent to opaque and with oils it takes forever to dry and colors can get muddy real fast. I dunno, that's my opinion anyway.

That is really cool, how you have made such peace with watercolors. Most people find them frustrating.
I disliked Oils as well, because of that darned drying time. I never had that Muddy problem, but I did notice it in my students works. It's simple mathematics - mix every color you have and it comes out an ugly brown. I discovered an additive for the oil that thinned it down and made it dry really fast, but too late - I switched to acrylics. And guess what? They dry almost instantly, making for new challenges.

Acrylics are a nice middle ground. You can achieve some nice effects with them, and some really nice work as well. I admire anyone who has the patience for oils and can achieve that nice seamless glossy finish. I'm an impatient painter! lol I want my work to be done right away and I don't want to wait before I work on it more. I cheat and use a hair dryer to dry my watercolor layers before I move on. lol
