Hello again Joel. I came to wish you another Happy Birthday as I did last year. I again want to tell you just how thankful I am to you. I still hold your messages in my box, they've been a great gift. But I also owe you greatly for winning the Ambassador contest. At the time I didn't know there was one. (Funny story, when I first saw the winners update on KS I saw my name come first and I thought I won the 1st place. I was in school at the time so I bursted out in joy. scrolled down a bit and saw it was Shea. Then I was like "ops" to my teacher). But even if it was just I draw from a bag, it still means the world to me. I also should thank you for putting up with my fan geekyness. I sent a ton of messages on Facebook that I probably shouldn't have, I appologize if at any time you felt like "uhg not this kid again". But most of all I want to thank you for one simple thing. Your work. Not just the idea and design of Urbance, but I mean the time, effort, and sweat that you and the team must have went through to not only make the pilot, but dealing with the fans, the trip to Tokyo, and the business itself. Juggling the fans and the pilot is no easy task. You can't focus too much on one and not the other. Otherwise you make people angry or you delay the deadline. But you and your team have done well to handle both. You've stayed in touch with the fans and from what I've seen the pilot looks extremely promising. This kind of work is no doupt stressful, takes up a lot of time, and can get frustrating. What with organizing the backer kick surveys (sorry you guys had to go through that) or developing a full on website for The PIT. And that's not even mentioning the actual development of the pilot itself. I mean that must be insane at some points. To do this in a place you may not know entirely well as Tokyo, is also a great feat. But enough of why it's so hard, that's not the point. The reason I bring this up is because it's the fact you do All this that amazes me. You've worked your ass off this long and your still going. A true inspiration for young artists like myself. To work without rest on something you believe in. Thank you for all your efforts in creating your art. Thank you for everything you've done for your friends, family, and fans (myself included). I want you to remember that you are a true master. I don't expect things to get any easier once the show does eventually get picked up, but I have no doupt that it will succeed due to your never ending rest to create something you love. And the more you love the work you do, the more others will. And have already. Thank you Joel, for being you. Happy Birthday from your Ambassador (I guess I'm using that title from now on), Sandino. Much love, respect, and best wishes to your future.
PS, I will have something for you, it might be me sending an mp3 of me playing "Happy Birthday to you" on my guitar. But most likely will be another drawing.

Just found out about Urbance from one of LeSean Thomas's blogs have to say I was blown away by the trailer . Love the look of this project will definately be supporting . Will sign up for kickstarter when I can and spreading the word ! Good luck to you guys on this project !

Hello again Joel, I'm sure you don't remember me as it has been a very long time. But if you remember me I'm Sandino and I sent you a super long comment on how I thought you were super awesome and stuff. I bring that up because when you replied to me it was the greatest comment I've ever received. Just saying I had strong basics made my entire day. That day was my birthday. You gave me this great comment on my birthday and it was amazing to hear such kind words from my hero on my birthday. So it's only fair I try to return the favor. Hello Mr. Joel, my apologies for this random comment but I had to write this seeing how I shall be watching not only your work here on DA but as we both know Urbance as well. I've actually been a fan of yours for quite some time, back when you did artwork for Brink in fact, your works there were some of the most well designed images I ever saw at the time. That got me started in drawing bad fan art from time to time. I also love your work on Batman Arkham Origins. But more to the point, I want to thank you deeply for giving me inspiration to continue a career in animation. Now normally that's something someone says to just be nice, but I'm not just saying this to be nice. I honestly have wanted to improve on my works because your works gave me this drive. So I mean this deeply when I say you've helped me and I thank you for it. I hope nothing but the best for you and Urbance. My fellow animators and I from my Experimental Animation program believe it will be fantastic, you have all our support. I hope Urbance goes well, sincerely yours, Sandino.
