Your very close where I live, im in Wildwood which is at the edge of west county, as for winter here, it can get very rough, last winter we had alot of snow and probly will be the same this year, and it gets very cold in January

Why would you open up a stop on a dark subject? Wouldn't you want to give it less light (since it'll meter at middle gray and you want the spider to be almost black)?

This is a manual flash setting...no meter

Dude ! A black widow would be awesome. it would be cool to get one on something instead of on a web (need a background to bounce the light from). my flash in manual has to be set to 1/8th power at f/45.0 with digital ISO 400. Now with a dark subject I have to open up one stop. So maybe you can figure a setting for ISO 100 or something (like 1/2 power or whatever)

I'm not sure my speedlight would handle f64 at 1/250".
I take it this is at 1:1?

Sure it would, if it was close enough to the subject or if the ISO was a little higher (if it wont work )

I think it is a little more than 1:1 , cause of the 1.5 X multyplyer of the CCD...so what would that make a 105mm at it's closest ?

Thanks for commenting on [link] ! I'm pretty sure that there were a lot more bright lights on the other side of the statue that would have been more of a distraction than the building. Maybe I should do a manip of this and set it off on its own or something.

Thanks for the input on scanny stuff. I think I'll have to go ahead and save up for a new scanner. It's difficult (to me) trying to mesh this whole analog v. digital world together. But we'll get through this, somehow, someway. Right?
