I start my orientation this coming Monday, so no, I guess it hasn't been going well. But, what has been going well is the engine development for Pandora's Legacy! I'm doing it myself, after much consideration, and I'm using the Game Maker engine. I have the overworld movement scripts finished and bug free (discrete tile-to-tile walking, Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest-style, and also ladders, which really just make you move slower and with a different animation but still), and I've worked out the basic technique I'll use to sew together the other various engines for the game into a cohesive program. I will begin plugging actual graphics into it just as soon as I can find a spriter; sadly, that part is not going so quickly. No one has answered my ads at all.

haha, really? You would think it would be relatively easy to find someone to do sprites. Where have you been looking? Just on DA or elsewhere too? Maybe them sprite artists are just taking themselves really seriously these days... who knows. I'm sure you'll find someone!

If it makes you feel any better, I'm going to be working on Astra's character sheet in class today. (Cuz I have a lecture class.) I'm doing Astra's first because she's the only one whose design I don't really want to tweak with; Sparta's armor needs to be fixed, and I want to work on incorporating some details on Varius' chest piece into the rest of his outfit. Again, I wish it was the end of the semester~

Can't wait to see the game engine when it working~ sounds cool!

Sounds good to me. I would also like you go add a longer beard and hair to Sparca; despite your perfectly valid points regarding the military significance of long hair, I think the need to make him look fatherly and sympathetic outweighs more realistic considerations like that. But in your own time, of course. Please send me what you do on Astra. I look forward to seeing it.

Blah... I totally missed this message. Haha. Sorry. Yeah, I unfortunatly got roped into a whole bunch of extra hours at work over the holidays and didn't get to do much work on... well anything. (Among other things) I have a headshot for one of the characters done, but that's about it right now. I should hopefully have time this week to get stuff done. Since they can't rope me into more hours with school. XD Sorry. Would it be possible to get you to shoot me the link for the forum again? I had to completely wipe my comp and in the process lost the forum. (But fear not, all art is safe.)

Trying to find an opportunity to better my life, as always. Signed up for a website that recruits people for overseas teaching jobs. I hope I can get one. Though it would mean I'd have much less free time to work on my project, having a steady job is more important.

Just so you know, we have a vague time-frame now. Matthew and I want to have at least all the concept work done for Disc 1 by the end of 2011, including art, map designs, system specifics, and at least the beginnings of an engine. Music, too, though it may not be fully produced by that time, depending. In any case, that should give you lots of breathing room.

Hmmmm cool. I've been meaning to ask, were you maybe going to start a website or forum or something where you can compile all of the work/info that's going on for the project just so everyone working on it has somewhere to get together and discuss what they're working on? (Because I assume you're going to recruit at least a couple more people. And it might be useful to be able to communicate with each other? idk.) Just wondering.

I know there are a lot of forum host websites. My friends randomly start them all the time- I'll have to ask them where they start them though. And I'm pretty sure you can lock it so that you have to approve people who join the forum, and who can view it... since you seem concerned about copyright and who gets to see what. I'll ask my web developer friend which ones are good next time I see her, if you're interested.
