Kagome is Kikyou's reincarnation. And that's all she is.
In the end, she ends up with InuYasha. And what is she wearing? The traditional outfit of a miko- the outfit KIKYOU wore.
Kikyou's REINCARNATION wearing HER clothes? Symbolism there? Yup, sure is.
In the end, Kikyou got what she wanted- to live as an ordinary woman. She lives as an ordinary woman THROUGH KAGOME because KAGOME is her reincarnation.

Duh, she was born so that you and Kikyou could still be together even after death- through reincarnation.

Actually that's false.
Being a reincarnation does not mean you will automatically fall in love with someone, we know this for a fact because they hated each other when they first met.
The clothing itself is a traditional outfit of a priestess (which, Kagome is, Keade is as well), considering the clothing around the area, it's logical that Kagome as a priestess and priestess in training is going to where the traditional outfit. It's not symbolism, it's common clothing of the era. If you want to talk symbolism, the priestess outfit at the end of the series is actually symbolic of Kagome adapting to the time that she's in.
And no, she didn't. There is a reason that Kikyo was able to walk with earth again, there's also a reason we see Kikyo upon her death float up into the starts, she was given the kiss and put to rest, Kikyo wasn't involved after that point, Kikyo is dead, Kikyo is in nirvana.

The Red Thread of Fate, something that Kagome had but Kikyo didn't, she believed she did, but then if they had the thread it wouldn't have "snapped" and they wouldn't have turned on each other, the fact that neither Kagome or Inuyasha do this to one another shows the thread is intact and they have it.
It was never Kikyo and Inuyasha in the end, it was always meant to be Kagome and Inuyasha, the series made that part obvious, Kikyo lacked something and continued to, there is no living through Inuyasha, and even if there was, Inuyasha has already admitted in the recent special chapter that Kikyo is not his problem.
In the end, none of that matters, people can say "Kikyo wins." and "Kikyo's soul is there" (even though we saw it float up to the stars, but it doesn't matter, because in the end, it isn't Kikyo he's kissing, it isn't Kikyo he's actually with, it's Kagome, and Inuyasha sees her as Kagome, and that's all that really matters. Just because Kikyo might or might not be there (it's already been proven she's not) doesn't mean it was always meant to be that way, especially if Inuyasha doesn't see her in Kagome and the manga proves he doesn't.

Now, I don't hate her, I merely don't like her. (Not a big fan of zombies...) I liked her better when she was alive. The members of this club, though are free to hate her as they wish. You are equally free to like her.
However, like Kikyo or hate her, InuKik will never work. Kikyo is dead. Awesome though she may be (in your eyes at least), she is still dead. In order for her and Inuyasha to be together, he would have to be dead too. And he does love Kagome. The only way I see InuKik being possible is if Naraku never killed Kikyo.
