# About me
My interests lie in beauty, stories and tragedy – these elements are a big part of my work, as are romance, horror, death and fantasy. My inspiration comes from big masters such as Carravaggio, Van Gogh, Rembrandt and Dali, but also from contemporary movies, books and music. Films like Perfume and The Fountain, and much fantasy and horor, have an enormous influence on my work, as do books from Stephen King and Philip Pullman and a lot of different music.I think art should be aesthetic. I totally disagree with the assumption that beauty has nothing to do with art. It's got everything to do with art – beauty is about fasciination, about love, about life and death. It's vital in all these things.
It all started with drawing – it was one of the few things I could really focus on for a long time.
Then I went to painting, and though I absolutely love doing that, I feel that it's not my sole purpose. At least not for the moment.
At some point I started seeing the sketches I made in Daz Studio, a 3D modelling program, as my work itself. I realized I had much more freedom using that program and combining it with photography; I was no longer dependant on my limited skills as a painter in making an image. And that's what it was about for me – not painting as good as possible, but making an image as good as possible.
Furthermore, in my case there's much more coïncedences with working digital than in painting – because you can rotate around the subject, and change the lighting and background, you often “accidentally” come to a good image. And those are often the best works.
At the moment, I've made a complete medium change - I went from digital art to permanent marker art. I use permanent markers to draw storylike collages on pieces of paper. I find I have a lot more freedom in drawing what fascinates me, and suggest a story without actually telling it. I think this really is something I might do for a long time, and hopefully graduate with.

Oh wow, I love it! There's a kind of distant chiming of bells on the background.. which I absolutely love
Our band's still on soundcloud:

But I don't think there's anything on it that you haven't heard before.
We are very busy at the moment; we have a new guitarist so we're teaching him all the music and trying to make it music more perfect.
And hopefully we'll be performing again soon and writing new music
xx

The bass is fucking great, i can wait to listen the songs after to record it all in a studio, i´ll like to make some remixes!!! ;D
Please dont forget to tell me all about the band ok??

I didn't realize you hadn't heard those songs yet!
Thank you so much, it means a lot that you like it
We also have two new songs, I think they're the best ones. When we've recorded them I'll let you know! One is called "solid like stone" and one is called "caught in time's maze".
And the bass is indeed great. We have a bassplayer who is actually a gitarist by nature, so he doesn't just play basic chords, he plays really fast tunes. I love it. He invented a lot of tunes for our music!

Dont forget to tell me all about the band!! I´ll talk about in one of my journals here ok? I remember you asked me about Stephen King... well i´ve read all his books, the last one is a beautiful story with a weak end, but is cool, i cant wait for "Doctor Sleep", it will be available the next month!! What about Joe Hill?

Hey!
I am so sorry I didn't answer for so long!! I was so busy with other stuff that I didn't use Deviantart for a long, long time.
How's it going with you? Any new stuff?
Last time we talked it was about Stephen King. I can't believe you read all his books! I'm on my way to doing that too; I always buy his books in second hand stores and I hope to one day have the whole collection. I still haven't read Doctor Sleep yet, because though I'm a huge fan I still haven't read the Shining yet... Was it good?
Anyways, hope you're doing great and talk to you soon?
Oh, by the way, my band is fine! We are planning on recording our new song soon, not really professional but in a better quality than the last recordings...
Hope to hear from you soon!
xxxxx kim

Yes, you provide a thoughtful commentary. I enjoy reading about how artists "frame" their own work.

I don't really have a statement per se, My goal is to help bring beauty back into traditional art forms and to recover what has been lost due to changes in artistic technology. At least that is what I am trying to do.

kim-fairy2 In reply to highlandheart1968 [2013-09-22 11:52:09 +0000 UTC]
Well, that's your statement right there. What do you mean exactly by "to recover what has been lost due to changes in artistic technology"? Are you talking about digital art and photography, or new styles like pop art and stuff?
I like digital art myself; I have done it myself and I love doing it. But it doesn't quite have the feeling that traditional art has. When you've been working traditionally for a whole day, you feel contempt with the result. When you've been creating stuff behind the computer all day, you don't quite get that satisfaction.
I personally really don't like most "modern" art, because, as you said, beauty has been "banned" by many artists. I had to read lots of texts from art criticists for school, and there's many people that say beauty has become futile, that we don't need it anymore. It just breaks my heart that there's people who think like that.
But of course, everybody's entitled to his own opinion..
I love it that I can talk with you about these things !
