It got me into Zelda. I bought the game on a whim and then literally the cartoon came on TV a few weeks later and I was hooked! I was a massive Mario fan prior to it but I'd never heard of Zelda!

That's how most of us got hooked back then. Pfftt, I had watched all of the cartoons and completed Zelda II long before I knew about the second quest in the original game.
