llamas (if you care to know) are just badges given to artists you think have talent, or that you personally like. They are free, but can only be given once by each person to the same artist. Visitors can see how many llamas you receive (mouse over) and they change appearance, so they know lots of people like your work (in case they can't judge for themselves). Usually artists care about it (unless they are so unusual that are not meant to be liked by the grand public). You can also exchange them for points (if you have points enough to exchange you probably is appreciated. There are other badges that cost points, however.
