I don't think this series has to do with childhood memories. I think it has more to do with remembered memories; those of our fathers, or grandfathers, to help us know what we've forgotten, with these structures left to rot alone.

A more appropriate memory for this image, would more likely be that of when it was closed. or when it was open, or simply how it functioned.
