Do you think you could give your opinion on my journal? Recently an art teacher has decided that customizing model horses is not art, and I'd like to know the public's opinion about model horse customs as a form of art. Thanks!

I have a BreyerFest question:
When you go to get SR's, is it in an arena, or out in the sun? Could you please give me a detailed description of what happens, and where it all is? Thanks, and take your time. Don't rush, and you don't have to if you don't want too

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

micamoney In reply to snompy [2013-06-17 21:27:00 +0000 UTC]

The SR line is beneath a covered tarp, at least at the front of the line. Depending on how far back you end up being, you might be in the sun, but only for a while. Breyer will actually post the BreyerFest program online a couple weeks or so before the event. I'd really look at that beforehand to get an idea of things. It'll also give you an opportunity to figure out what exactly you want to do--what's most important to you and everything.

SR Line:
1) Arrive at location, about 15 minutes before your time starts.
2) A Breyer volunteer will bring out a fish bowl. Inside the fish bowl are ALL the numbers for the scheduled time. Volunteer will have someone waiting in line pull out a number. For this example, let's say it's 285.
3) It'll be your responsibility to get in numerical order. Breyer volunteers will pass out number signs to each 50: 50, 100, 150, etc. Let's say your number is 322. You would find the sign with the number 300 on it, and you'd find numbers 321 and 323 (or closest to it as you can get), and that's where you stand and wait.
4) Breyer will let in each section at a time. They'll start with number 285, and they'll let that first group of people in, up to number 299.
5) Time for 300s (you, in this example). You'll follow everyone up a ramp, and you'll see a long line of people, standing by tables with models on the tables. Your ticket will be checked and marked with a Sharpie as you walk in.
6) Walk along the line and find the model you want. DO NOT CUT IN FRONT OF PEOPLE. They'll get mad at you, trust me. When you find the model you want, give the person across the table your ticket. He/she will mark the back of your SR ticket and will give you a model. You're allowed 2 models per SR ticket.

*Note: If a model is no longer on the table, it means they have sold out of that model for that specific time slot.
*Note: If you have a bag, MAKE SURE YOU CHECK IT AT THE BAG CHECK-IN. You're not allowed to bring it into the line. If you do, they'll send you back to check it, and you will forfeit your place in line, thus being forced to move to the back of the line.
*Note: If you're too late to arrive, and your number section has already been through, you must stay at the back of the line.
*Note: Let's say your number is 280, and 285 is called. You'll be in the 250 section, which will be at the END OF THE LINE. I had this one year. The number called was 238 or something, and I was 237. Very last person in line...yay...

Hope this answers your question; feel free to ask more if you have any!

Wow! Thank you! Okay just a few minor questions:

1: When in line, when you get up to pick a model, do you just hand them your ticket? Or do they say "Which model on the table do you want?"

2: Im only getting one model, but my parents have 3-day tickets, also. What happens to their unused SR tickets? Can I keep them for a scrapbook/memory album?

3: Do you have any idea what the "Surprise Set" may be? (Cc Shuffle)
I've heard it might be a mare/foal.

I want to get Naomi and Wynanno, (or however you spell it -.-) but if they're all gone, HEAVAN FORBID, lol....I just wuv the foals, so if Cc Shuffle is mare/foal I wanna get em' second

Thank you for all the help and taking your time to type all that for me!

micamoney In reply to snompy [2013-06-18 20:08:23 +0000 UTC]

1. When you're standing in line, each horse will be on a table, again, in a line. You go to the model you want and give the ticket to the BreyerFest employee. He/she will mark the back of your SR ticket and then hand you a model. You won't get to pick it up. It's the only way Breyer can ensure a fair process, I think.

2. You can sell the unused SR tickets to other people, or you can give them to people. There are ALWAYS people looking for more tickets--like me. Every year since I started going, I've tried to get as many of the SRs as I possibly can--mostly because if I don't but them now, I know I'll regret it later...and by that time, I don't want to pay the secondary prices for them.

3. I have no idea. It's obviously a SET of two models. I highly doubt it'd be a mare and foal, considering there is another SR that's a mare and foal. We'll certainly find out, though! On Model Horse Blab, we have an entire thread going with various brainstorming ideas as to what the surprise set could possibly be.

The Susecion & Le Fire are VERY popular. I wouldn't really be surprised if they went that quickly, if only for that reason. But, an issue with these two is that there is no such thing as a purebred Appaloosa Arabian, which might make people hesitate in terms of buying the models. I'd lean more toward they'll go fast than slow, though.

Okay, thank you!

I'm going to aim for the Susecion and LeFire first, but if they're out I'll get the Cc Shuffle (surprise set).
What models are you going to get? c:

micamoney In reply to snompy [2013-06-18 20:53:51 +0000 UTC]

Here's my order (yes, I already have this figured out...)

1) Ryman, the gray ASB
2) Twill
3) Naomi & Wynonna
4) Two Step
5) Laredo
6) Buckaroo
7) Surprise Set

No interest in the pig. That'll probably change around once I see them in person, especially after I find out the surprise set. That's what happened last year when I found out it was Flash--everything changed, and he immediately became my first choice because I knew he'd go fast!

snompy In reply to micamoney [2013-06-18 21:37:13 +0000 UTC]

Oh, Bukcaroo is pretty darn cute, too...
Why must I only be able to afford one?! D:

Well, I made a mega-long list for myself, as in, if they don't have so-and-so, I'll get so-and-so.

1) Naomi & Wynonna
2) CC Shuffle
3) Buckaroo
4) Two Step
5) Lardeo
6) Twill
(If I can afford him, he's a glossy >.<) 7) Ryman the SaddleBred
8) If I can get past the Ninja Pit Of Death, Tenesee Titan! He's so adorable

The NPOD is definitely an adventure! Part of me actually would say do NOT try to do that your first year. It's an unbelievable nightmare. People are very rude, grabbing things, knocking people out of the way (including off their feet), angry glares. It's bad. If you believe you're going to go to BreyerFest again, I really recommend not doing the NPOD. Get your bearings your first year and then attempt to conquer it. It's not for the lighthearted.

Haha, okay, thanks c:
I will (HOPEFULLY!) be going again. Depends on what my parents think of the epic equine experience! (Haha....had to make it sound good XD)
If they like it, (meaning if we avoid big crowds, stay as cool as possible, and things have low prices) then I'll get to go again ^-^
I really like Tenesee Titan, plus I love the Brighty mould.

I'll probably just go later in the afternoon and see if I can find a leftover one that fell behind a shelf xD
Thank you for helping me so much!
