- well, Italy as a whole and Egypt have been very close since Roman times, and though they became strained during WW2, their relations are currently A+
- during Sicily's Arab dominated period, the Arabs came from Northern Africa. The Byzantine Greeks still in Sicily referred to these Arabs as "Saracen", and Sarakene is used to refer to the the region in northern Sinai Peninsula.
- Ancient Phoenicians and Ancient Egyptians had a very close relationship even before Sicily became a Phoenician colony
- A majority of Sicily's cultural influence came from Northern Africa
- Trade between Egypt and the Kingdom of Sicily was indeed very good as well as relations during that time period
- Today, Egyptians are very welcomed in the region and go there for jobs and such
- Something little I found interesting is that there are pyramids in Sicily and mummification also took place in ancient Sicily
that's my knowledge so far, i'm continuously reading up on Sicilian history, so i may find more ; w ;

The Empire. I was watching Jersey Shore with my family, and my dad has a big Italian family, I can relate to none of it. I turn to my dad and ask, "Pfft, Snooki. What happened to good old fashioned Italian values?"

such coincidence, I just watched a movie about the Roman Empire last night xD
the Romans had things that would've been considered 'inappropriate' nowadays, like public baths up ( until individual tubs began to replace communal bathing ) and open toilets, etc. The public baths, though, were used for health and cleanliness, and not pleasure.
anything 'naughty' was governed by restraint through-out the Roman and Byzantine Empire.
Anything that violated religious purity was a big no-no
exposing naked bodies among Roman citizens was pretty much a public disgrace
and that's a majority of what my Roman culture book tells me related to the naughty, soo
