Yes, I admit my actual Viktor is based on the JKR's one. But just, let me tell you something important.

This Viktor is not Viktor from HP anymore.

I was in love with the grumpy character of Krum in the book HP4 when I was very younger (12 year old). At this period, I was (and I still) a bookworm and very interested by others languages and countries. So, this character symbolise to me my passion for the East culture because it is very rare to see a bulgarian man in a children book.
Like you with Wilbur or you others guys, I like him as he was mine, like he was my own character.

So.... he become mine. He lived with all my OC and  I was very embarassed with Viktor : he was my best friend. I live with him every day and his personnality change very faster to evolve in an other character.

« Now... He didn't look like so much Krum.... but I can't change his name « Viktor » or the fact he is a wizard, is that a big problem if I can't change this to make him an OC too ? »

So, I decided this year (after ten years of question with this guy) to let him become really mine. I just deleted the name of « Krum » of my head to give him the name of « Kravsanov ». That's was hard to do, but that was a great decision.

He's a bulgarian wizard named Viktor, but this is the only similarities now with HP. I created my proper magical world after the Cold War and I connect this with the universe created by my friend Bianca.

Goodbye Krum, Welcome Kravsanov !

I always prefered to create all my characters by myself but Viktor.... Viktor is a little different. Maybe he is my favorite one because he and I have a long story together.
This guy saved my life, and he saved the life of one of my friend.

He's actually very most than a simple piece of paper or a name written on it. (Like of all my characters in fact )

I know how you feel! It's amazing how long we keep our favourite characters or creations with us... and we can't help but change them to our liking and eventually they bloom into something more! I have more relationships with fictional characters than I care to admit. I also like Viktor from the book because he is grumpy and mysterious. I wish JKR had involved him more in the story! I didn't realize that you were the artist who drew some pictures I already have on my computer... in my Viktor/Hermione folder. I love them! Not enough Viktor/Hermione fanart

For me, I never really understand a character truly or evolve them until I write about them. Then they really turn into something more!

Yes my big regret is that the character of Krum who was so great in the volume 4 became very insipid in its appearance in book 7 at the marriage and his version in movies is simply a massacre of his personality... I liked so much it as for myself in The Goblet Of Fire while we did not almost see him that I wanted at once to make something. I have write a fanfiction also (the only one of all my life, it is to say !) then very very fast he became another character than the JKR's guy. And now, I think that I made it something very different and he is one of main characters of the essay which makes 2600 pages (In French, sorry...) which we write with my friend.

But I am very satisfied that you can understand me on this point! To develop a character in the writing it is wow, amazing! Even if for my part he evolved a lot in drawing also, at the moment, difficult to think that this man kikile-zlovetch.deviantart.com… was on the base of Krum!

The movie Krum is NOT Viktor Krum AT ALL. Why must every single guy in a movie, or main character, have to be traditionally 'good-looking'? My Krum is not exactly so beautiful. His roughness is part of what makes him awesome. He's grouchy and irritable, but Hermione makes him want to try harder to be social. Other than her, he doesn't put in the effort! I think it's a lovely flaw to be posessive or selective. I don't see the point in never falling in love with someone for their personality... It's what keeps the obsession alive. The substance!

And that picture LOOKS like Krum but it's definitely another Viktor now!

Yes the 'good-looking' principle of is distressing I found that so sad by seeing the film ! However as the fact Durmstrang contains only boys and Beaubâtons that girls, it is stupid !!
