Well that's not neccasarily true, sometimes they just can't deal with what's happening around them. I know and love quite a few people who have thought of or even attempted suicide. As is often the case, the media shows it in a much different light than it should be seen in.
Although, yeah, they generally do want a quick death, you are right there.
