Salute.
I'd like to translate Walfas on Russian language (to make it more popular, obviously), but wanna do it by myself.
Can you teach me? That'd be great..

WBLtheELITE [2018-05-04 21:29:57 +0000 UTC]

So after a very long hiatus from my Walfas, and considering maybe creating just enough to finish an old series, I have a few questions.

1) So the original Create.exe is dead?  No more updates?

2) Are the newer characters updated for your version?

3) Can you finally change skin color?

4) Can you finally move arms?

5) What other features should I know about?

1. Neither the original create.swf or my extended create.swf are active projects. The original hasn't been updated since 2015 and KirbyM has been working on other projects and doesn't seem interested in create.swf or Touhou in general. As for my project, I had a hard drive failure and lost months of work on the project, add on top of that being burnt out with the project, I haven't had much desire to catch up my old code back up-to-date.

2. Unfortunately no, I tried to import some characters made by some people but flash is super finicky and ruins just about everything that didn't come explicitly from flash professional itself.

3. Select a character and press V.

4. Select a character, open the prop menu->detach->arms.

5. You can look through the createX manual it goes over the new features.

Skin color and arms finally change.  You've fixed what has been BROKEN for some time.

So will I have to import all my characters one-by-one with the DNA?  Or if I open it, will it read the original Create.exe data?

If your save data was made using a downloaded copy and you download extended and run it in the same program/browser, then it SHOULD still have your save data. unfortunately, flash has a tendency to randomly delete data for seemingly no reason so you cant be sure.

Yo, I've been using create extended, and I have a couple of suggestions, though I'm not really expecting either of them to get in.

The first would be a zoom feature, with the ability to use the middle mouse button to move the zoom window (not the scene) around.  That would make close-up shots a lot easier to make.

The second is a first person mode.  This one might be harder to make, but it would be neat to have.

FlareKyn In reply to FlareKyn [2018-01-19 03:09:43 +0000 UTC]

And I just found out that the zoom function already exists, but I can't edit my comment.

I still want to see a first person mode, but I'll understand if that's not possible.

rsgmaker In reply to FlareKyn [2018-01-21 04:59:08 +0000 UTC]

What do you mean by "first person"? If it's camera perspectives, then it's impossible without a fully 3D environment(everything in create.swf is 2D).

You can only edit comments within 24 hours of posting I think.

Hello. As a new user of the create.swf, I have found your create.swf extended very useful, especially for the detaching of arms and fixing the floating text such as there wasn't an invisible bubble that clogged the entire screen.

I would like to thank you very much for creating this.

PS. The inserting and importing an image tool from a URL is very obsolete, it doesn't work for me. I would appreciate it if you could allow the use of importing image directly from my local directory, such as browsing your computer for an image and importing said image into create.swf extended.

Btw, thanks.

rsgmaker In reply to JasonEe12 [2017-11-19 21:11:05 +0000 UTC]

You can load local images, using the file path as the URL. I cannot add a file browse function due to flash's limitations. you can, however, shift-right-click an image file and click "copy as path" and paste that into the URL box.

That was a quick backsprite I made , unfortunately its small and the arms were set up in such a way to make the rotation more visually interesting, it might not look as good in a still image.

Will you port createX to HTML 5, I heard that flash will be killed off in 2020.

rsgmaker In reply to Kuro-No-Robin [2017-08-03 21:24:56 +0000 UTC]

I've already started such a project awhile ago but I've stopped working on it, flash ending won't be a big issue, the main effect of flash ending will likely be that browsers won't load up flash files. But dedicated flash player applications will continue to work.

Kigurou-Enkou [2017-04-02 06:26:39 +0000 UTC]

Just a suggestion, would it be possible to make a FXO object for a greyscale effect, much like the color inverter? I used to be able to do that in vanilla Walfas by screenshotting the panel, but not only does it not save, the current screenshot function in Extended seems to only capture one layer...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rsgmaker In reply to Kigurou-Enkou [2017-04-02 21:39:40 +0000 UTC]

FXcolor-shape objects use blend modes to affect the pixels behind them, unfortunately flash lacks any sort of saturation blend mode (well as1/2 lack custom blend modes).
I've updated create.swf extended with a bugfix for screenshots which got broken from a previous click-through-images update, so hopefully it will work properly for you now.

In create.swf extended, there is a "masker" item, of some sort. It's brocken as hell!

Can you do something about it? It just makes my items randomely disappear from the screen and I have to put them again.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rsgmaker In reply to bouteilledeau1 [2017-03-29 00:54:18 +0000 UTC]

all objects with names beginning with "FXO:" are special effects and cannot simply be set out. these objects modify the object directly below them. Masker applies a cutout effect (aka mask) onto the object directly below itself the shape of the cutout is whatever shape variant the masker is(press C to cycle through mask shapes). masker advanced turns the object below itself into a masker.

Sometimes when dealing with FXO objects it is best to use the [] keys to select things, whenever the FXO or it's target is selected the effect is temporarily disabled allowing you to edit them easier.

...well it seems like the latest Flash Player update on Chrome just deleted all my cookies for createX.swf and as a result I've lost all my Walfas data again. Do you know how I could restore this? I've checked both the walfas SOL file and my Chrome's data but neither will let me restore to the last point I saved my newest Walfas things (i.e. yesterday).

rsgmaker In reply to Kigurou-Enkou [2017-03-20 16:22:27 +0000 UTC]

Chrome seems to be really messing with flash lately. It may be a good idea to switch to flash projector instead of using chrome. you can check the chrome's flash storage and see if you can find your save, idk if it will do any good at this point though, what's been overwritten is likely gone forever, but maybe chrome changed save locations without actually deleting anything. The location for chrome's flash storage on windows is here(#localwithnet should be the folder you need):
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Pepper Data\Shockwave Flash\WritableRoot\#SharedObjects \

Hmmm...in case it does, and I want to switch the chrome walfas save data to my flash projector, do I just dump the SOL file into the #localhost folder?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rsgmaker In reply to Kigurou-Enkou [2017-03-20 23:59:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah just copy walfas_create_savedata.sol into the localhost folder.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kigurou-Enkou In reply to rsgmaker [2017-03-21 05:02:59 +0000 UTC]

Well I found the file in #localwithnet . The bad news is I could not restore my data from one week ago, but the good news is I could restore it from last December. I did lose quite a bit of new scenes but all my character data and hotkeys are still there.

I think from now on I'll just use the Flash Player after all. Thank you so much!

This is more of a suggestion, but would it be possible to add a feature to createx.swf that allows you to select a group of objects and then be able to move them/delete them/etc.? It's kind of a pain when I set up multiple objects in one area and then realize that I want to move that group of objects somewhere else.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rsgmaker In reply to Gii828 [2017-03-14 23:25:51 +0000 UTC]

I have messed with moving multiple objects at once. hold alt and dragging an object it will drag objects that are touching. this isn't that easy to use though as all the objects have to be in adjacent layers for it to work.

Um, I dunno if this is a browser thing again, but I need your help. This whole time when I use create.swfX, I open the file using Google Chrome, so it shows up as a tab in my browser for me to use. But just today, when I opened it, my browser kept thinking I was downloading the file and it refused to open.

I also thought of trying to open it with Flash Player but it just kept freezing every time. Is there a change or something?

EDIT: Nevermind, it works now. Chrome for whatever reason mysteriously disabled my Flash plugins, so I had to switch it back on.

rsgmaker In reply to Kigurou-Enkou [2017-03-01 22:43:04 +0000 UTC]

the newest flash player works but requires you to reopen the swf manually. i'd recommend using version 20  which doesn't have the weird file opening issue.
yeah the browsers are strange with deciding whether to allow flash automatically or not, it may have something to do with having an out of date browser/flash version but i'm not 100% sure. though this is happening more and more it seems.

I'd like to make a complaint. The newer version of .swfX
seems to be malfunctioning.
It seems every time I load a character in a scene
it loads them up with a different set of arms and items
randomly. And none of the options that I've fiddled with
seem to fix it either.

rsgmaker In reply to PopulousMaster [2017-02-28 19:51:01 +0000 UTC]

All of the scenes I've made before are loading just fine. are you having issues with a specific character? try fixing the character and save the scene and see if it loads properly then.if it's still breaks each time you load the specific character fix it one more time but instead of saving it,copy the character's dna(after fixing it) and send it to me.

Can you add the stretch feature to the characters to work like it does with the props?  It would help video makers with the "stretch and squash" principle of animation.

Hey there! I just noticed the newest update of create.swfX has a weird glitch with imported images - when I use the 'M' button function, the control square thing no longer shows up in the center (like it still does with normal objects/characters) but the upper left corner. Is this actually a glitch?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rsgmaker In reply to Kigurou-Enkou [2017-02-15 16:48:39 +0000 UTC]

It occurs when you have anti-aliasing disabled. it looks like the image cache update broke the positioning of non-anti-aliased images. I'll look into a fix.

Um, sorry to be a bother...the feature has been fixed, but I found another problem - after importing my custom images, I can't select them by clicking on them at all; I can only select them by using the [ ] keys.

rsgmaker In reply to Kigurou-Enkou [2017-02-16 15:31:57 +0000 UTC]

go into the create.swf options and disable "click through images". the reason you have to turn it off is the same reason you have to have to disable anti-aliasing.
hmm maybe i should only allow "click through images" when anti-aliasing is also active.
