hmm, what do you mean by hard grainy brushes? Can you link an example?

I use sai btw and the brushes I used are the default ones and these painttoolsaibrushes.deviantart…

hmm, I think I used the brush "xylem" at 30-ish with the texture "paper" at 70-ish. The grainy look may have also come from textures I overlay over the painting :) (Smile)
