I really appreciate that you liked my Goa'Uld Uriel. This has tempted me to make a full-colour version to show off those glowing eyes.

Great DA group. Bravo to those who contribute.

I do have a question though. Does anyone know of a Goa'uld Costuming group that is not on DA? Something that's like the Tok'ra Resistance?

I'm assuming this Tok'ra Resistance [link] ?
Some people there have made Goa'uld undercover costumes and hand devices.

I don't know of a similar Goa'uld group, but have you tried Scifihero? I am pretty sure there are people there who has made various Goa'uld costumes. [link]

Yup. On SciFiHero. I have seen a couple pieces that have been showcased throughout the past, ditto with the Ori. But still surprised there is nothing like the SG Ops, Jaffa Legions, Tok'ra Resistance, and Wraith Never Ending. I think someone was thinking of starting an Ori group a few years back. Looks like they disappeared though and it never progressed.

Yup... that's the right Tok'ra Resistance. Quiet bunch at the moment since they are working on another fan film. But yes, they have come up with some great Tok'ra/Goa'uld items.

Not that I know of but I don't know a whole lot of fansites outside of the groups here and gateworld. You can try asking at the Goa'uld fan thread at GW: [link]

theLadyBarbossa In reply to Nebulan [2011-12-15 06:29:22 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm... Ok.
I've found Gateworld to be rather informative but that's about it. If fans really want to be heard, they need to do what fans of Star Wars and Star Trek have done - as well as Dr Who, and many other great Sci-Fi's - and that's to be involved! More than just chatting and getting information... the conventions are out there, lots of them. Costumes really do say in volumes to the companies who own the rights to shows that there is still a massive audience and they want more! George Lucas saw this and he supplied the demand. Look at Star Wars now... it's stronger than ever because the fandom was strong, and there are LOTS of costumers/cosplayers.
Let's hope a Goa'uld Costume/CosPlay group starts soon. The Jaffa need some "Gods" to serve.
In the meantime, I adore those who are on here who dress up in costume as Goa'ulds. I greatly applaud their efforts and creativity.

Ra was not a Goa'uld.

At least not in the continuity of the movie.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nebulan In reply to Promus-Kaa [2010-06-22 01:30:07 +0000 UTC]

The movie by its self, no, the term "goa'uld" hadn't been coined in fandom yet. but from the point of view from the series, yeah, he was. The series, while only continuing two of the actors, does consider the movie its parent even if the movie doesn't consider the series its children.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Promus-Kaa In reply to Nebulan [2010-06-22 20:32:20 +0000 UTC]

Ra wasn't a "snake," though. The humanoid alien Ra possessed the boy with his spirit, not a physical parasitic body.

Neither were Ra's guards "Jaffa" - they were humans who were raised by Ra from childhood, selected from his enslaved populace to serve as his Royal Guard AND to pose as the rest of the Egyptian pantheon of gods.

The series diverges too far from the continuity and backstory of the film to be considered in the same "universe," as it were. The movie and the series represent seperate continuities.

Question from ~cpi for any who could answer:

cpi said the following:

I have a big important question, and hopefully, you have an answer

Now, the Goa'uld; the Villains of the first 8 seasons of Stargate; were said to have both remarkable self-healing abilities and super strength, despite being hedonistic, megalomanical, power-mad and power hungry, narcisstic slobs.

I remember on many episodes, where they showed the remarkable self-healing abilities of the Goa'uld Symbiote; without aid of a Sacrophagus; but I don't remember many episodes where super strength was displayed. I remember Kawalsky breaking a doctor's neck with one hand, when He got possessed by a symbiote, and I remember how strong the Ashrak, was; but that to me, isn't super-strength. A linebacker or a really strong individual, on drugs or going through an adrenaline rush, could do what the Ashrak did. and nor do I consider surviving mulitple gunshots, to be super strength.

physical resilience and physical strength, aren't the same thing. they're both tied to physical stamina, but one deals with how much one can take before falling over, and the other deals with how much can lift, move, pull, how far one can throw, how far one can jump, and how much damage one can deal unarmed and armed.
Just because you can punch someone through a wall, it doesn't mean by the same token, you can survive multiple gunshots or stab wounds.

When it comes to superstrength in the Stargate Universe, I expect to see superstrength, in terms of how the Wraith have it: to where they can do incredible super jumps, and to where they knock their prey and aggressors,20+ feet away, like they were made out of paper.

Crushing someone's windpipe with one hand, and knocking a full grown Man over, with little effort, does not constitue superstrength.
Doing what the Wraith do, and beyond that, is superstrength.

So, how can it be said that the Goa'uld possess superstrength, when obviously they don't? and Yes, I know what super means in Latin, and I'm being a geek, but I seriously think about this kinda stuff.

Can you guys give me examples of them actually having what would be superstrength?

Thank you for your time
