There isn't a pirated version of Hamilton online that I know of (and if there was, I would be betraying the good kind faith of Lin-Manuel Miranda by directing anybody to it, considering it's, ya know, illegal...if it were literally anything else I wouldn't care), so people who can't go see it are getting by on the soundtrack. There's only a couple of lines that are in the on-stage musical that aren't on the disc, so, script-wise, you're not missing anything by listening to it. (Thank god for the new age of hip-hoperas!) That's not to say that it's not better to see it in person, but Miranda knows that 80% of the people who want to see it can't.
There are authorized clips on broadway.com that you can watch, and, plus, guaranteed there will be a movie adaption within the next few years (the guy that directed Creed wants to get his hands on it really badly), so if you never manage to get your hands on tickets (tbh who dafuq can), you can look forward to that. Sorry that there isn't a full version anywhere...but after its run, it'll be more accessible. If you can wait that long. X)

yeah I'm going through the soundtrack now so I guess I'm already there XD That's cool though, I'd rather see it in person anyways so I guess I'll just wait *wipes tear* but I should probably listen to the soundtrack in order since at the moment I am both very excited and very confused, yesterday I stumbled on "Aaron Burr, sir" and started drawing something for it and now I just keep distracting myself with other suggested Hamilton songs. TTATT save me

I would recommend listening to it in order, yeah. X) Not just for narrative purposes, but also because Miranda reworks a lot of thematic and musical elements successively into the track, so that every song is referential another song in some way. It takes a lot of repetitions to get the full weight of it. Sometimes the references aren't lyrical, sometimes it's just recycled chord progressions (like, the chord progression for the chorus in My Shot is played on piano and sung by the company in History Has Its Eyes on You I think) and it's really fulfilling to pick up on that stuff lol. It's packed with easter eggs and symbolism.
It's so weird that all of a sudden everybody and they mom is into this musical. :V I remember when it came out in public theater back in March last year (has it been a year all ready? Good god.) and nobody knew about it, but the few that did were hoping it would move to Broadway, and then it was announced that it would be on Broadway in August (which excited me because the public theater seats were sold out for a long time) and then it ended up getting bumped up to a slot in July. Back in those good ol' days, it was so tentative and the fanbase was so tight. Now people who I swear I've never heard of talk about either history or musical theater are fans of this show. I have no memory of any other Broadway production getting so much buzz. It's surreal because it's like watching your kid grow up. X'P
But yeah, you'll have to pardon my rambling. Before the fandom was tiny and now it's smothering. XD I'm glad you're getting on board. Let me know if you wanna duet~

Yeahhhh I should really listen to it in order since I've kinda pieced it together thanks to songs referring to one another, but real talk, which song is the /first/ song? (will look it up and listen to it once I'm done binge listening to "Aaron Burr, Sir"), but after listening to like three or four songs I realized just how heavily they hint at each other but how each one is it's own entity and part of a story and ahhhh it's really fuckin' great.
I didn't know it was that old though, I'll be honest it was the shitty Warriors fandom that got me into it but I've really only seen things about it in the last couple months or so, it's strange how things fly in and out of popularity like that.

The very first song is "Alexander Hamilton." It was the first song ever written by Miranda for the show, back in 2009 before it being on Broadway was even an idea. It started out as an indie hip-hop hobby (a hip-hobby, if you will) and after taking two years to write two of the songs, (Alexander Hamilton and My Shot), Miranda finally ran with it and took another four years to piece it together. Hamilton has crossed so many fandom lines that tbh I'm falling into bitter fan status because it's effing everywhere and there are /so many/ insincere people in the base now. Before Hamilton, the history community was made up a few very genuine and passionate people...now it's like, /everybody/ loves American history and has loved it /all their lives/ and for some reason that pisses me off. >.> (I've seen effing Transformers-Hamilton crossover and s2g I wanna die). But it's good in a way, every fandom has its vices.
And yeah, I think we first started talking about Hamilton coming out in the Public Theater in NYC in like late 2014. That was when the first cast list came out and everything and people were like, "the heck is this? Black people playing founding fathers? Dafuq?" Lol and I remember waiting in agony ever since July for the album to come out in September, and then the cast did a live recording that you could listen to the night before the release date and the fandom (which was still kind of small at the time) was going crazy over it. Goodness, how times have changed.

Sounds like quite the journey this play has taken, and I'm sorry to hear that the happy little fandom has been corrupted. :C It's kind of a weigh off, like if it stays small and quiet you feel like it's not getting what it deserves, but once it becomes bigger people start abusing it.
Hopefully I will do right by Hamilton
But I've always been interested in history and I love hearing about it (kind of the reason I'm going into paleontology/anthropology; although that's kind of a whole different sort of history) so Hamilton was kind of a treat for me, plus honestly the music is so goooodddd like how could you not be interested in the story after hearing it??? I'm hype

I mean, pretty sure I'm one of the only ones who feels that way lol. If I were more of a fan of Alexander Hamilton the person, I probably wouldn't have turned as sour, but he was always among my less-liked Founding Fathers (which is an extremely unpopular opinion--shhhh don't tell anybody...actually I think he was one of the greatest men who played a part in American history, but as a person vs. a revolutionary...ehhh), but I mean yeah there has been some actual it-shay going down in the fandom lately. People are arguing over racial implications because somebody compared Hamilton to MJ being casted as a white guy and it's leading some to "justify slavery" and something, or...idk. Some Tumblr nonsense. Like I said, I backed away because the fandom is friggin oppressive these days.
Anyways, I'm glad LMM's work is getting people interested. Alexander Hamilton had one of the most factastically tragic one-damn-thing-after-the-other backstories in the history of America's benefactors...stranger than fiction, really. The musical doesn't even tell it all. (Incidentally there are a lot of theatrical liberties and inaccuracies, so if you want to look at history nonfictionally, don't take Hamilton as gospel). I think that's why so many people are so invested in him and desiring to reclaim his commendation. He combined novel-like origins with a flamboyant personality to get one of the most was-this-guy-real people ever.
