i have, youve got some very cool photos in your gallery. what kind of camera do you use? lenses?
right now, ive got a Nikon D3000 and all of my photos (minus the ones from australia, which were done with a canon powershot) were taken with the crappy lens it comes with lol. its that 18-55mm one. im saving up my money for a teloscopic macro lens.

I use a Canon 50D and the kit lens that came with it was a 28-135mm, then I got a 75-300 but it's one of the shitiest lenses out there, imho, so then I got a Sigma 50-500 and I fell in loooovee <3 I'm also borrowing my aunts 50mm f/1.8 which is used in the non-action shots :]

lol i think i understood that im not exactly proficient in photographer-speak yet. i just started "serious photography" like a month ago. i always ran around and took suprisingly good pictures on my canon powershot, but whenever i put them on my computer they turned basically to crap, cuz of the poor resolution. they all looked so incredibly pixelated, it really frustrated me. but now ive got a better quality camera, and hopefully this week ill have that telescopic lens. im gonna go to the toledo zoo this weekend and im gonna try to take some good shots while im there

haa yay you understood! it's not all too difficult, I started doing more serious stuff innn march of this year XD I used to have a powershot too! except I was like, 12/13 and I didn't really know what was 'good photography' until I got my first dslr.
what lens are you getting :3 have fun at the zoo! i really want to go to the zoo but all our zoos are total crap, too much fencing and really dirty glass!

i really dont know what its called. i get my supplies and most of my knowledge about photography (minus what ive figured out on my own) from this photographer who owns a camerashop, he called it a telescopic macro lens. its 800$ but its got a killer zoom on it! I want something i can use to zoom in close on an animal without having to get extremely close to it. unlike dogs, a cheetah or a dingo isnt gonna want to hold still and let me get close lol without that lens my zoo photos might really suck lol

ok HERES what it is. its a 70-200mm telephoto lens, nikon brand. lol thats all i want. I took a trip to the zoo today and found out just how hard it was to take quality detailed and close up photos of animals without a lens that could zoom greater distances. for one, i wouldnt be hanging over the edge of the fence over the animal enclosure lol. Im gonna order it tomorrow probably but it wont be here before my next zoo trip lol. i happen to be goin to the toledo zoo sunday

omg yum, the 70-200mm f/2.8 for canon cameras is literally the best lens out there for canons, i can only imagine how much better it is for nikons! Do you know what the f-stop is, the aperture?
Also, with that lens since the quality is amaaazing and if you wanted to add more zoom, what you could buy is a 1.4x or 2x teleconverter which basically doubles the focal length so you can take more distance photos

woooooooow im coming to you with photography questions from now on!!! lol i just looked at it again apparently im looking at a 70-300mm. I mustve gotten mixed up somewhere, im either looking at a telephoto with 55-200mm or a longer one with 70-300mm. im just gonna copy paste both of em:
NIKON Nikkor AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF~VR~LENS
Nikon 55-200MM F/4-5.6 ED IF Af-s DX Vr Vibration Lens
I got a couple questions though...
These lenses will definately fit my D3000, right? All nikon lenses fit all Nikon cameras, is that how it works, or am i just fooling myself? lol
and youre a pretty seasoned photographer, which would you recommend? assuming they both fit my camera, the 200mm is obviously cheaper. i want to use it to shoot wildlife at the zoo. what do you think?

Gadabout-Photography In reply to sparme [2010-08-19 14:41:32 +0000 UTC]
Personally I would go with the 70-300, especially for zoo shots. At zoos, you won't really be using the 55mm end of the 55-200, and then you're probably going to wish you had more focal length. So go for the 70-300, it's a great lens from what I can tell and it should give you great results.
From what I know, all lenses will fit your Nikon, but probably the really old lenses that were made for the film cameras won't.
Here's a great site for anything Nikon: [link]

its cool lol. so how do you get these opportunities to photograph dogs like this? i mean, obviously this is a contest, one of those obstacle course runs (i cant remember what its officially called lol) but can you just waltz in there and start taking pictures, or are you contracted by someone? maybe im diving too deep, asking inappropriate questions, but what kind of business do you get? also, ive been wondering this for a while, do you sell prints on DA frequently? I figured youre as good a guy as any to ask this stuff to, since youre clearly a pretty decent photographer lol ive only just recently started taking photos. sorry if im being inappropriate or something

Gadabout-Photography In reply to sparme [2010-08-21 04:05:48 +0000 UTC]
Agility You can just google them in your area and they're pretty easy to find.
Yep, you can just waltz right in Unless you're asked to leave, you can walk around and take pictures as you please, just being knowledgeable about keeping distance and such to not distract the dogs.
I really take the photographs for myself, I offer them to people and if they ask I give them my email and website, but it's all for free and I don't charge anyone. I'm only 16 and I don't plan on doing this 'professionaly' so I don't see why I should charge people, especially when there's those other amazing photographers in my area. I don't have any prints up on dA, nope XD
And naw, not innapropriate at all! I love being asked questions, it makes me feel so smart answering them haha XD

oh ok, well from the look of your photos i assumed you took pictures for people for money lol theyre really good quality. ive been on DA for a while now but i never did anything with it, i just last month started putting my photos on it lol. i see prints all the time on other peoples pages so i assume theyre selling lol
i read on your page that youre an aspiring dog trainer or behaviorist. thats pretty cool dude! if youre interested in that stuff you should check out finding work at a dog day care like me. im a university student who wants to do wildlife biology and i ended up working at Camp Bow Wow. Ive been doing it for more than a month now ive gotten such an amazing view into the mind of a dog and how they behave alone and in a pack. just thought id pass that on. thanks for answering all my questions, btw!

Lol yeah, I just started putting stuff up on my dA less than a month ago as well XD
Haha I already know a lot on dog behavior, simply because I have a trouble maker of a dog XD But gah, I WISH I could work somewhere like a dog day care, but if I can't drive I can't work >.< Need to wait a few more months to get my darn license!

ok i just figured id let you know that you can actually get those jobs lol. i didnt think i was gonna get the job i have now since im a college student and that i probably wasnt going to stay there forever, but they really liked the fact that i was wildlife biology, because i had a purpose for working there besides making money lol

Alright, so A uber strong kickass swordman named Majeh, dies and becomes a grim reaper for 'next world'. But when hell's most dangerous demons escape and enter the mortal world, it's up to Majeh to stop them. The only problem--Majeh is turned back into a kid and his powers are reduced. And that pretty much sums it up. You can get King of Hell at TokyoPop.

sweet! i love stuff like that, it sounds really well thought out and origional (lately it seems like the new manga is just old stories thought over again). plus, tokyopop makes some sweet stuff. ill look into it, thanks a lot!

Not a thing man. Oh, and for the future, it's called a manhwa (korean style comic) and it reads from left to right, not like a manga. I'm also into martial arts, so feel free to check out my gallery containing my original characters.
And yeah, some people are just putting old candy in new shiny wrapping paper nowadays.
