reading of your interests in digital art and other mediums i would suggest looking into raw fractals as one possibility of exploration...there are many very talented fractal artists on this site and i've experimented with the programs myself...many are free and easily found... collage might also be something to look at.. lots of groups for that one as well... i do collage on playing cards and have collaborated with artist from all over the world which has been awesome...you always learn things that way and it's great to see just how something you send someone else changes for the better by what they might add... hope this was useful

Thank you very much I appreciate all your words, and I can tell you are truly a creative presence. I'm really interested in experimental art, I've just found myself limited in terms of time, knowledge, and resources (the eternal struggle of human beings). Fractals have always intrigued me, both in mathematical concepts and the reoccurring phenomenon in nature, and I will definitely be looking into their possibilities of creative expression. I really would like to increase the diversity of my work (through collage or otherwise), I just find my natural default returning to pen and paper. I really do thank you, you've definitely given me some things to think about, and I hope you have a wonderful day.

you're very welcome... the fractal program i use can be found here: mandelbulb.com/2014/mandelbulb… and at fractal forums. read about the program first
before you consider installing it... there's a lot to the program and i'm still figuring out everything it can do, but then i do not use the program everyday either unlike many of the artists here on DA and the ones i have saved to my favorites page. as far as other forms of art i like mixed media. some textures are more easily produced by one form or the other and using multiple layers only enhances the detail of a project. it might sound odd, but i prefer hands on techniques when making art over digital... i did take several years of graphic design, so i have used photoshop and other graphic programs but found them overwhelmingly complicated to use...they could do amazing things but i like the tactile feel of paper and glue under my fingernails and manually assembling layers for a collage...it's a personal thing...almost like zen, i can focus on what i'm doing and ignore all the dull and boring bits outside the sphere of my attention. another thing you might find useful is poetry...especially haiku and many of the eastern forms. i like haiku in particular since it forces you to convey more with minimum detail. another one that is very good at doing this is six word stories...several groups for that one as well... those can be tricky but when you get one right it's very cool. the fun thing about writing haiku is that it can also be very collaborative as well...i've been exchanging haiku verses back and forth with -reddragonfly- for nearly two years and what began as a simple verse has become an epic saga... another thing that might be useful to do is when you find someone on this site you admire, especially if they have been here and active for years is to go to their very first postings and favs and see how their work and skills have changed over time...i still do this, even to myself...helps me see where i've been and what direction i'm taking at any given time artwise
