# About me
traci berg is a contemporary canadian silversmith and an environmentally inspired designer.traci was cultivated by a creatively talented family, where she honed sketching and painting skills from her aunt and father. crafts were encouraged and thoroughly enjoyed. the young artist spent much of her early educational years experimenting with various techniques and mediums, eventually graduating high school with art honours.
traci entered the alberta college of art and design in 2004 with sights set on a lifelong relationship with the creative community. she completed a bfa in jewelry and metalsmithing in 2008 and began traveling, from which she was able to gain insight on foreign approaches to metalcraft. during her ramblings, the artist embraced a sudden encounter with global awareness and began to imagine how she could adapt her practice to consider the needs of the planet and its inhabitants. she envisaged crafting with reused and recycled materials and took an interest in growing living mediums as a form of visual art. in 2011, traci completed her permaculture design certification through the university of british columbia.
teja designs (teja being derived from the sanskrit word for radiant) began in 2011 as a means to recognize delight in creation, while simultaneously encouraging sustainable practice in all aspects of life. influenced by planetary perspective, the artist utilizes traditional metalworking techniques, recycled materials, mixed media and collected organic matter to define her presence on the globe.
traci currently resides on vancouver island.
