Considering the "professional falconer" title, I'm guessing you're in abatement?
I'm a general-level falconer from the midwest.

yeah, I do abatement.
I'm a general class in the east.Β Two years and then I can move up to master, not that I really need any of the "perks" that would grant. One bird after a day of flying them is enough

Haha, I can totally sympathize with that! I upgraded in... 2010. But I haven't even considered upgrading to master class! (Not that an eagle wouldn't be fun to fly...) I've got a lot of exploring to do here at the general level!
What're you flying this season? I'm not flying anything at the moment but I'm considering trapping a kestrel late this season for flying during the spring/summer. I've flown multiple Red-Tails at fox and grey squirrels, cottontails and swamp rabbits, with the majority of my birds' success on squirrels, and multiple kestrels at house sparrows and euro starlings during the summertime between college semesters.
Best of luck with abatement and your season!

Eagles aren't practical over here (there's a reason they don't live and breed here). Mostly I'd want to upgrade to have a propogation license.
I'm flying a jack. He's caught one starling. Had a late start this season in terms of hawking due to a month of continuous bad weather (either high winds or rain) but we're getting going pretty well now.

Totally understandable. I only know a handful of eagle falconers; many are located out west where they have the space to fly them. :3 I've worked with multiple eagle species (Golden, bald, tawny, long-crested, bateleur, etc.) but only in an educational/rehab/prop setting (through an internship). It'd be so cool to be able to fly one someday, but only when I have the game and space available.
Ah, good luck with the Jack! Hope he really comes together for you before the season's over.Β

Thanks, he doesn't really have a season since he's flying starlings though! We'll see how things go, he's a bunch of fun.

Ah, makes sense! :3 I can somewhat sympathize, as I fly during "off" season with kestrels at starlings/sparrows. Regardless, good luck!
