Your work has technical skill... though I'm a little sad to say that you seem to draw on your influences a little too much, and regurgitate them constantly... to carry a grotty analogy a bit too far, if your work is intended to consist of regurgitated influences, you should really chew them a little more first... in more elegant words, put a bit more of your own slant on things... it will make it all far more interesting for the beholder.
I know you're capable of it, because I've seen a few things in your gallery that were quite individual.
However, I'm aware that my opinion is not the be-all and end-all of critical opinion. Your style is your choice entirely... I'm only making a suggestion.

first of all, sorry i didn't respond to this sooner, but deviantart wouldn't let me post yesterday....but anyways....
some of my work, especially the icons and avatars, are purposefully meant to show thier influences, but i am guessing you are not talking about those...
as for my poetry, all i can say in my defense is that sometime i get..."artistically lazy"....especially in some of my older work. I have been trying to only submit the writings that i perceive to be really "good"..what ever that may be.
either way, i really aprecciate that you said something, i really enjoy when people truly critique my work, instead of the general "that is sooo cool"......its a good ego boost, but doesn't help me out much....

Shun the ego-boost in favour of the genuine critique? Unusual and admirable... I'm not sure I could make the right choice myself if it came to the worst.
