I suppose I could get angry or insulting like everyone else, but that's not really my style. In fact, while the overall crabbiness and hostility of your "prank" goes against my grain, I do have to say I actually agree with you in principle:
One really can "get away" with a lot more simply by using black and white.
I think black and white images hold something of a mystique for many, primarily because most people never deal with them personally. Most black and white is done in a fine art or academic situation, which automatically consigns a certain cachet to the resulting work.
This is one of the reasons that I choose to work mostly in color: I'm fascinated by the challenge of getting my messages across in a medium that most people consider "common". I've had several experiences both on DA and other sites where I've taken images that even I thought were trite, desaturated them in PS and posted to rave reviews, while color work that I was totally creatively and emotionally commited to was slammed from all sides. It's a true fact that in most people's view, black and white nude=art; color nude orn. To me, getting over the "color barrier" (sic) is a big part of what my work is about.
Now, that said, I have to tell you that I don't like porn...I LOVE it! Nothing makes my day more than seeing a sexy image or reading a really good dirty story. I have a nice circle of internet friends, and we all share porn with each other...some of us write, some of us draw, some of us photograph it. We come from all walks of life and various parts of the world. We are men and women, black and white, younger and older. But the fact is, we love depictions of sex and sensuality in art! I honestly feel sorry that you can't experience the naughty thrill of getting an email attachment and KNOWING that it's going to be something fabulously and creatively dirty! What could be more fun than THAT? Sure, sure, I consider myself an "artist" and all that, but really, deep down I love the idea that right now someone is engaged in wonderfully liberated sexual activity sparked by one of my images or stories: maybe someone snuck into a public library restroom to self pleasure after looking up my website;
maybe a couple using an image or story of mine as a jumping off point for wonderful, passionate sex; maybe even someone being inspired enough to pick up a pen, a brush, a camera to make their OWN porn! The fact is, you may well be better and smarter than we all are, but there are MANY MORE of us, and we're all having a LOT of fun!

Well i'm not sure there's a "wrong" way to use porn...unless it's actually truly harming someone else...If something merely "offends" then I don't consider that harm, we're all big enough to look at things we don't like from time to time...after all I have to look at Bush for another four years, so a bit of t + a shouldn't be a big deal for anyone!

Well I don't mind seeing T & A if you see some of my work that should give you an Idea, but I do think using it the way this guy did does in fact affect people and this community in many ways, first it makes some look like morons whether they are or not that is just silly, second its one of the many reasons why the staff and policies are so strict about the art that many of us love and admire nudes, third It takes time from people and it gives him so well undeserved popularity, I mean not that he would deserve some props for pulling this type of "morally artistic stunt" but this is for artists not a places to test your little social behavior experiments (besides its obvious and most of us know that sex sells so does not matter what it is if it involves a naked woman it will attract more traffic).
There is that, also I am not in the mood I am 2 hours from celebratin a new year I am drunk and I am happy so no time to go off at anybody,but please if you ever have to say something to me please leave the smart remarks about Bush or his administration out of it because is not in any way part of the subject. I am a 150% supporter of his actions, I am an ex military intelligence war veteran from IRAQ in fact and I well know that most civilians and even those who claim to know about the BS going on out there, don't know crap about it. I am also from New York, have a brother in IRAQ right now defending this country of undeserving citizens, and I lost friends and coworkers on the 9/11 attacks. So if any human being (including Bush (which might not be the smartest american, still a lot smarter than what a lot believe)) has the "balls" (excuse the language) to go out there and do something about it, not to sit down and wait for world peace just to happen like magic or to be a damn pacifist and sit there while other countries terrorize (excuse the grammar) us, and be pussies about just because we want to come up with cheap ass excuses. Then I am not 150% but 1000% behind his decisions and with a commander in chief like him I would go again to any war and die defending this country that sometimes don't deserve it.

As the brother of a gay woman, there is nothing "irrelevant" about gay and lesbian rights, including their right to marry, have familes and equal protections under the law. As for her "abnormal" behavior, 40 years ago people like Bush considered interracial marriage "immoral" and "abnormal" too [which is relevant to me as i'm a black American], so the right's stance to "protect" marriage [for who, Britney Spears? Jennifer Lopez?] has twice as much signifigance. As for public safety, you might want to ask the parents of Matthew Shpeppard and countless victims of hate crimes [gays, blacks, jews and arabs among them] about "social integrity".
Contrary to what you think, I'm all for government, but not when that government tries to tell me what i can think, who i can marry and what i can watch on tv or see on the internet [don't forget Ashcroft's "Internet Protection Act" which a new york photographer named Barbara Nitke is fighting as we speak -- if that goes through than artist like myself wouldn't even exist. Ok I never brought specifics about groups, nor minorities or such but, I share some of those myself I am Puerto Rican and I am part of a "minority". Let me tell you what I believe about that, I think its wrong and stupid to harras, harm or do anything against the people who are part of these so wrongly called "groups or minorities", I am all for the defending the human rights of anybody, My dad is 1/2 Black and my mother 1/2 italian and there are plenty of colors, languages among my family members, I know plenty of homosexuals and I will tell you I still disagree with you. Why I tell you why.
First - If you really think about it, the ones who segregate themselves including us latin americans, are us. Yes there was a lot or racism back in the day there was a lot abuse and there still is, but not from the "government" it comes from who? us and humans and civilians or living thing whatever you wanna call us. Us that can't live withouht segregating ourselves withough grouping and stereotiping. I can't stereotipe because I kknow there is a little of everything in everyperson. A little of gay, a little of black, of white of dumb, intelligent, smart, ugly , pretty and what not. But still all of us including myself find a way to alway complain well their picking on me because I am Puerto Rican, or Latino or too short or whatever. Bullshit they are picking on you because you make it so obvious and you make this things yuour life, I mean just because someone is homosexual and wants to have a life and share their love with a person of the same sex does not mean that the laws and policies about what a marriage between a man a woman should be changed or ammended whatever the word is the point is that, Marrieage in fact is just a piece of paper that people uses just to have legal rights over soemthing that should been an issue on the first place I think the only reason why someonbe would be interested in having papers to prove they are married is to be able to divorce later which in fact isn't love or what a real marriegae should stand for. Anyway before I get to off track here. The problem is that under many traditional religions marriages beetwen the same sex are unaccepted before the eyes of their god, well it had to be made a political and legal matter to be aproved by society. Come one that si just plain bullshit is not love is just like many of you trying to prove that you can pull this stunts, that you can go against what was stated before that you can do whatever the hell you want, this isn't defending shit this is your ego acting up.
Think about it getting something legalized would chage the fact that half of the US disaproves it and will ever will. Just because it is legal for a "gay" couple to get married does not mean that a buch of haters of these acts would not still attempt to be agaisnt it, and thye same way they are still harrasing women at work, minorities in the streets and so on tehy will ever do. Unless we as humans not you Black or me Puerto Rican or him White or her Lesbian, no, ans Humans that we all are need to sit down and think where everything comes from, is not because those who were abused back 200 years 300 year many years ago, no, its because of us as citizens, brothers, sisters, neighbors and most importantly as parents who raise our kids believing the same bullshit, because I've seen many African american couples not wanting their kids to hang around the white family's kid (explain that one to me). We need to stop the bullshit now. A quick example I love rap and the art involved on singing it, but I think theway many preformers and the way the exploit the females to get the most attention and popularity and all the crime behind it all because they can say whatever they want what most of them do its to ask our upcoming 10 - 15 yo future country citizens to follow their ridiculous believs which in fact sometimes make no sense.
I might a gree with you that its wrong to try to tell people what they do, I think its the only way humans can survive and still looks at the mess we are in now.
I am probably making little sense now because I've been drinking but seriously I would be interested on discussing this matter with you on a more live situation as msn or yahoo or anything likt that, maybe I could grasp a little of what your thought are and you perhaps could understand more of why I believe this things. don't listen to that lame ass, he doesn't know what he's talking about. Anyone who is ignorant enough to confuse eroticism with porn is an ass. I don't think tygris's artist abilities merit the right to criticize your artistic abilities. Compared to your work, tygris's is by far a greater pollution to the "arist" community. Your photo quality is superb and grain is an integral part of photography. You can't escape film grain and even if you could, why would you want to? It adds so much character to pictures. You do a wonderful job and I wish I could manipulate my camera as well as you can. My only beef with your work is that you don't show faces. Some times it would help, but even then, not showing the face is what makes a "threeform picture" a threeform picture. Good job.

someone please refresh my memory on why half this crap is considered 'art'... some of your pics are alright, perhaps by some stretch of the imagination may be considered artistic. but the rest might as well be taken as still images from porn, with the lighting slightly adjusted in photoshop. it's not artistic in any way. not to mention the photo quality itself sucks, it's grainy.
