You don't have to be outgoing to sit in a coffee shop and draw. People will sometimes notice that you're doing something a little out of the ordinary and they'll take a look.
Yes, I do use a lot of Sharpie, but I also use a lot more Prismacolor pencils. I also love using my tablet and Photoshop. Try using a lot of different materials and mediums to find what works best for you.

No. You're not bothering me at all. I have very little contact with other artists so I don't get to discuss it much. When I first started getting into drawing as a child I had all the usual Crayola type materials and I loved to play with a lot of different things, but I kind of gravitated towards colored pencils because of the texture, ease of use and versatility. I also really like them because you can use the same pencil to get a very sharp fine line or point, or you can tilt it onto it's side to cover more broad areas. I've always loved painting, but the set up can often be a little daunting for me. I am trying to paint more though.

ok i just wanted to make sure. cool, i only have few friends that are artists in the high desert so thats a plus. i can see what you mean about colored pencils, but just like you im only availibe to Crayola, as well as there shitty markers...ive noticed that painting ( with watercolor) is dificult with long brushes. im thinking about cutting it some.
