Well before I knew how to draw hands I was looking at my own and trying to picture it on my computer, sometimes it was difficult.
But then I started watching tutorials!

You can try both and see how it goes for you. If you want, I can go find some useful tutorials!

Oh that's not good at all   

You could draw on gimp! It's a very good starter program, actually  started drawing with it right after I finished using MS paint.

ps. gimp is also free!

But there's also some free online paint sites, but I prefer Gimp.
